Hi All,

One of the big plus points to GFSA is the content YOU generate...content (usually) particular to South Africa. Where to source parts, local DIY solutions, current contacts for speciality parts/work, etc...

And we've seen some great work done - so why not collate the useful threads into a few pinnable threads we can point people towards for ideas/inspiration/etc...?

Why not start with Instruments and Amps as two categories subdivided by :

Builds : Where parts were created from scratch. E.g lapdawg's builds (59 LP & Firebird), EZ's 18 watt marshall build, Rikus's La Carbonita, Manny's tele's, Wizard's Violincaster, Cabenda's Tele are all excellent examples.
Refurb/Repair : Where you've stripped it apart for a refinish, repair or something you took apart and restored to original.
Mod : Installed a pickups, changed wiring, etc..

Any thoughts, suggestions?

I'm familiar with a few builds, but I can't recall them all, so if you think it's a decent idea - trawl GFSA and help us root in the treasure trove that is the GFSA 'archives' 8)

    I've done a little sleuthing, buit only really scratched the surface of what is available in the archives - so much happened when I wasn't looking ?

    Here's a quick look at the (meta) data. Sorted by date fort now - havn't thought too much about tagging with descriptions since the thread titles are reasonably descriptive.

    Let's see how much data we can get together - want to add another category "other" for projects that don't fit into the guitar/amp categories - E.g. I recall a electronic kit being DIY'ed with peizo buzzers...

    And once we have a chunk of info, maybe have some fun and vote for "Hall of Fame" to feature our favourites?
