What up guys,

Thought I'd turn the boost circuit I'd been fiddling with into a proper pedal.

Hence the Power Boost is born ?

This one has 2 channels. One with a Master Volume for a more overdriven/saturated sound with the Gain up.

Not my neatest wiring, but hey, prototypes aren't pretty!

Uses same boost circuit as in the video:

In the video I mention the intention was to get a clean boost that adds that special sparkle of a MOSFET gain stage.

I also mention that it can get "dirty and grimy" - what I meant to say is that it can get slightly overdriven.
The way in which a MOSFET overdrives is very far from "dirty and grimy"!

The pedal version activates each of the 2 gain stages separately, so it can either be 2 clean boosts or turning both on you can dial in some overdrive.

Kind regards,
Matt.
That looks cool! I see you have the same problem I do - how do you insulate the vero board's underside properly? Insulation tape seems to get tacky and fall off especially when it is hot... What is the long term solution?

Best I have found so far is to stick double sided tape to the underside, but leave the other sticky side's covering tape in place if that makes sense. It is sometimes a mess, but you can still remove it afterwards.
Yeah insulation can be an issue.
I usually put insulation tape on both the PCB as well as the inside of the back cover - so they fit snugly together.

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't hold up long term (well... who knows really!).
I suppose it depends in each scenario - like it the PCB is held tight or could move over time.

I usually try to avoid the problem altogether and design my PCB's with board mounted pots and as little external wiring as possible. May take longer to design, but it's well worth it when it come time to wire something up. I hat wiring with a passion!

Unfortunately this being a quick perfboard layout and a tight enclosure, board mounted pots weren't an option.
