Ok, so I bought this about a year ago at a very good price. One of the reasons why the price is so low is that the finish is nitro with no filler AT ALL - so every hole etc. in the wood will be seen and the grain shows through the finish. No problem for me and I upgraded the pickups, bridge and tuners from standard. The neck is a Mighty Mite.

While the guitar is great I wanted to refinish it and go for something slightly different to my usual wood/natural finishes. I also was interest to see what the build quality was like under the paint - that's where it counts as well. I have been asked about the Logans a number of times and have recommended them with the caveat of the price point and the related finish which Bob Logan is very up front about.

So I contacted B& S Guitars (NeonGecko) and started discussions around the refinish. Wayne (NeonGecko) and partner Ben are great guys who are both professional and down to earth (a combination that is not always that common - much like common sense I suppose ) with a no nonsense approach that suits me.

We will only be refinishing the body and adding a pearloid pickguard. Wayne (NeonGecko) can and I am sure will be adding images of the process to their Facebook page and here as well as it is always great to share these processes with the familly.... ?

So here are some before pics:

A few pics from B& S Custrom guitars - (process started: I had changed the pickguard to a more traditional black some time ago)

Hold up, what is that??? Rot?? Mould?
I have no idea - will wait to hear from NeonGecko as I just saw this on their FB page ...

I was referring to the collection of holes in odd places ... ?
damn. and i was just going to say i 'killer!' to the before pics. here's holding thumbs that whatever it is, it can be sorted out with minimum fuss. and that the end result works for you!
          dh
Whoops! I have no idea where the 'rot and such' came from... ???

Nope, that is nothing but a magnificent variation in the wood grain, so in my opinion the face is a beaut! Pity that the pick guard is gonna hide a lot of the outstanding character, but then that's just my opinion. :-[

I'm about to get the first coat of clear sealer on and that should really bring her face to life. I should get more pics up by the end of today.

              Bad photo skills neon??? ?

Seriously, is that the wood grain? Cant you take another photo of the pup cavity alone?
Sorry guys, I was referring to the myriad of holes in odd places and NeonGecko was referring to how infuriating it is that people hide such nice grain with solid paint ...

My apologies for the confusion ...

As stated earlier though Bob Logan always states that he doesn't fill any holes, nicks or dents but just adds the paint. I agree with Neon that it would have been nicer to have a little more translucent Bloinde finish but .... at least now we will have one that is impeccable (No pressure!!!! ?)

For those interested, this is what we are aiming for - I call it "clear Cornflower Blue) ?

mmm, I've had a good long look at the body and can't see any mold or rot. I then had another look at the pic and if you are worried about what's happening in the neck pup cavity, it's only two and a bit blocks grey, self adhesive foam. Sorry for the scare folks, you had me a little worried there ?
                    1st coat of clear sealer:

What's the timeline like here? ?

                        Thanks Neon ?
                        That clears it up then!!

Mike it should normally take about 3 weeks I think. Unfortunately I am away from next Friday until 21 Nov so will only get to collect it then. I am visiting Wayne next Friday as he wants me to be there when we start applying/mixing the colour so I am happy with it which is very cool. ?
Ah fantastic, when did you give it to him though?

Went to see Wayne on Saturday to discuss everything and then I gave the final go ahead yesterday afternoon after we finalised a few aspects.
Thiz eez gonna loook good !! 8)
Which do you prefer - the 1) plain color or 2)the very slight burst?

                                  1) Plain

                                  2) Slight Burst

I'm a real sucker for bursts.

                                    Reminds me of Skyburst actually...

Which then reminds me of this

Mods - any reason I can't edit my post?
