okay so i havent been buying 9v batteries for a few years as i had alot of them from way back.
so i need a battery for tonights gig............boom R60!!!!!
last time i bought it was about R25 few years ago.
where does one acquire 9v batteries at a good price ?
i know yebo sells as well, will check what their price is as well.
Edit: also a side note, people look at you like you are an alien if you ask them for a 9V battery.

They're cheaper if you buy bulk, also if you buy form an electronics supplier. one at a time from a retail shop, R60 is about what they cost >☹

I bought a rechargeable one for a 100bucks a while ago, i luckily had a charger from a old toy car, that works out okay for me.
I still try and keep a spare for gigs tho

+1. Get a couple of rechargeables and a charger - they pay for themselves pretty quickly. Or use a power supply.
Otherwise, if you have to use alkalines (like for some wireless gear that doesn't like rechargeables), Peter is right - always buy in bulk - I used to buy direct from the Energiser rep.

i have used those GP ultras, they last long enough.
i will lookout for them again.
other than for acoustic guitar, i don't need a battery for anything else, but seems like i must invest in rechargeable again (i dunno where mine is haha)

+1 on rechargeables. I picked some up a while ago for around R80 so after the first recharge they pay for themselves. Makro have some as do other retailers like Hi-Fi Corp, Game/Dion and electronics stores like Yebo. I bought some of my rechargeables at Yebo.

I can't leave a battery in my acoustic, it kills it quickly

Do you often leave your lead plugged into your guitar when not playing? The preamp is usually activated, and remains active, when the 1/4" jack is inserted. My batteries last a couple of months, and that's with regular playing into a PA. But if I leave it plugged in for extended periods (i.e. forget to unplug the thing) , the batteries are wiped out in no time.

The acoustic guitar has one, the Di box has one, the tuner has one, the effects pedal has one.
The single Boss adapter (for the effects pedal) was a good few hundred bucks but you can't have one on the guitar itself.
I also buy the Energizer batteries which cost more but last longer.
I think I should look into re-chargeable batteries too. 8)

Get a daisy chain so you can use the power adaptor on the tuner too. Use phantom power for your DI (if it doesn't take phantom, get one that does) and a rechargeable for your guitar. All worth it, both economically and environmentally...

I buy Energiser Max from Dis-Chem - R39,95 - cheapest place I know. ?
GreenThumb
ouky i can help out here, the crazy store sells them
if youre lucky you can get them from 8,95 to 19,95 depending on the container they got in
they work well and will last long if you take your cables out
hope that helps

Just remember, these batteries all have different mAh ratings. The cheap crazy store ones and rechargeables usually have around half the capacity of a standard one, less than half of a high rated one. I bought a couple rechargeables a few years back, ended up chucking them cause they weren't lasting through the day for what I was using them for.

I get GPs at Dischem for a tenner - not the ultras though. They say Greencell Extra Heavy Duty. They seem to last okay in my acoustic.

If i leave my bat in my acoustic it drains it empty in no time, and the tuner isn't on and it's not plugged in, something must be wrong?

If the cable isn't plugged in on the guitar side (not the amp side ?), and it drains the battery, then yeah, you have a problem. Possibly a short between ring and sleeve on the guitar's socket - check for sloppy soldering.

I buy a pack of 16 Panasonic batteries from Macro and it works out to about R15-R17 per battery. I only really use them for my bass' preamp and they last quite well. But I always keep 2 extras in my guitar case. Been quite useful for a couple people around me, not just me!
