StephenG you take that back or i will poke out your eyes and beat you to death with your ibby headstock.

You can't beat someone to death with an Ibanez headstock. They're pointy so... unlike Fender... it gets the job done, first time ?

the other big change to the head-stock besides the shape. is the setback angle.. it has a set back angle unlike fenders flat head-stock that needs string trees.

and the truss rod cover is nice feature..

StephenG well if you're talking a guitar duel then I'm in ?

We haven't done that yet and it could be epic.

Lower has to record a video saying the winner's favourite headstock is the best headstock there is, was or ever will be ?

I'm down for a little public humiliation. You?

NorioDS sorry.. but the stakes are a bit to rich for my blood.. Im out!!

I was kinda hoping you would back down first and all..

Poor choice of headstock aside, and price aside, looks like a nice guitar. Now if someone here will please buy one to share with us, so we can come audition it to death, to see if the head does sound bad?

I'll get one, just to try out.
My PRS John Mayer signature series silver sky crowd fund is now open.. please dont be shy this is for a good cause

I'm a bit disappointed with this "design" by PRS. They could have at least done something more original with the body as well. They could still have done the control positions and the pup/control configuration and electronics the way it is done on a strat, so that the guy can get the tone he wants. But anyone can go buy a Squier and some PRS SE, mutilate it by removing the headstocks and switching them around, to get this.

Jigg... the colour as well is blech.

Being that pointy you could probably stab them to death....

    Hasie LoL.
I am sure Nick didnt expect this thread to get so dark so quick.

    I definitely did ⚠ ?

Just in case y'all missed the breaking news, Fender fired back at PRS by creating the Carloscaster. And then decided Gibson needed a lesson and made a slashocaster too.

Interesting stream from John Mayer, where he discusses some of the design choices they made with the Silver Sky and why what they produced made the most sense. You might see the guitar a bit differently after this.

EDIT: Sorry, if you want to watch it the right way round: http://deturl.com/mirror-flip.asp?v=PFun8pNFriM

Hmm. Looking at the Marshall pics, it seems somebody forgot the back cover as well...
Headstock, one cannot do much about, but surely, buyer should be able to decide whether the spring cover needs to come off or not?

modulator Noticed that as well, I think it was Eric Johnson who reckoned the tone was better without?

I've a backplate and it's never, ever on. But I have a fairly reasonable excuse...I've got a tremel-no, so to unlock or lock it, I need to get at the back. Which, of course, I've done maybe twice since it was installed 5 years ago.

Paul's a bit of a stickler for things he thinks improves tone. I know some people think Strats sound better without the backplate, so assuming Paul believes this (which I think is a safe assumption) why would he "compromise" the tone on all his guitars by fitting one?

nick_D01 I got one last month, it is a brilliant player and sounds great! Pity about the static issues on the pickguard. (I have 2 vintage Strats so the neck profile was no issue for me at all.)
