Elixir® Electric Nickel Plated Steel Strings

0.010 - 0.046

I do need to add that I haven't tried anything else and that I am a total noob
    Slinkies on my Tele,
D'addario phosphor bronze on my acoustic,
and Labella Deep Talkin Flats on my bass. I won't change them until they break, they sound incredible
Been putting Elixir's on everything the last 12mths - they work if you want something a bit brighter.

Usually D'Addario Pro Arte's Composites (high tension) on the nylon stinger, though I'm trying out a set of Ernie Ball Ernesto Palla's (medium tension) this month.

And whatever I can find on the headless bass, recently got some N.O.S Wings by hohner which arn't bad at all...considering they were 20+yrs old!
6 string electric: Ernie Ball Titanium. Wanted to try something else.
7 string electric. D'addario. Wanted to keep them the same as those originally on the guitar.
        Acoustic: Elixir. Can't recall why.
          'coustic = Elixir 10's
          'leccie = Blue steel 10's
Elixir Nanoweb 80/20 Bronze 0.12 - 0.53 on both acoustics...
            I'm addicted...The Telcaster has 10's (also Elixir)
I'm restringing an acoustic bass guitar for resale and can only find Earthwoods...
            Ordered and waiting for them.
Will offer my opinion tomorrow ?
Dean Markley Helix and Blue Steel strings for me
Usually, Rotosound Swing 66 on my p-bass. My last set lasted 7 years. They sound best when they are dead.

Recently out of pure necessity I had to fit Ernie Ball Bass Slinkys. Thin sounding and twangy.Yuck! They will be relegated to the dustbin come payday.
                  Elixer light/heavies on my electrics - 10 - 52.
Elixer medium 12 on my acoustics.
Whatever's in my string box 3 years down the line ?

Nah it depends on the guitar

D'addario 13-56 for the jazz box
Ernie ball or D'addario 10s for these strats
EB or D'add 9s on the tele
D'add Phosphor bronze for the acoustics
I tried to buy in bulk some elixirs the other day but they were R270 per pack (for electric 10-46). Yesterday I checked online at http://www.stringsandbeyond.com and it works out to R130 per pack, incl shipping, if you buy 10 packs. I keep wondering why strings are this price here. Why? Really, why? I'm serious.
Ernie ball regular or cobalt slinky 10 - 46
                          Rotosound Pure Nickels, 10-46

R270 in bulk??? Eeeekkk, that's outrageous! Thing is, mark up on strings is where a lot of stores make serious $...markup is at least 100%, if not more.

I just bought a set yesterday = R175/pack (10-46 , plain steel - blue box) at the gear junkie, there is a variance on price for gauge & material, but definitely cheaper than the price gouging local music stores.

At some stage in the not-too-distant future the gear junkie will be offering internet orders on consumables - including bulk orders on strings at a slightly better price... ?
I am a pretty recent Elixer 10-46 electric convert. They retain their sound much longer than the ernie ball slinkies I used to use.
so ja. acoustic i use elixirs exclusively. electric i'm not that worried - gauge is most of the decision, so it'll either be d'addario or ernie ball.

                                elixir nanoweb - light (12 - 53)
                                electric - ernie regular slinkys or d'addario xls (10 - 46)
on my bass, whatever it's currently strung with (i have a spare set, i just take the used packaging with to the store and replace them). they're d'addarios, but hell, no idea what gauge.

interesting to see what other folks use though...

                                  They're Ernie Balls...
                                  Earthwood Phosphor Bronze
                                  45 55 80 95
They really do feel and sound fantastic 8)
@DaFiz, how easy is your acoustic bass to play compared to an electric bass? I like the idea of being able to play during load shedding ?
Norio. It's a full size fretboard. I always find a shorter scale is easier with my short fingers,
but the Phosphor Bronze strings actually softer than the electric guitar equivalent ?
