I'm disappointed I wasn't able to get an entry in this month, but I'm looking forward to hearing the entries and casting my vote!
      Nice entries...
Holly is my favourite, but i quite enjoyed Knopfler too ?

        Holly is good stuff!
Great entries. I enjoyed all four and cast my vote with difficulty. Page, you scored bonus points for your very nice use of 5/4 time siggy.
Holly and Page sound like latin and Jazz ,is that world music ?, however i like Walsh.

Holly should not have been in "Beginner / Intermediate" Category....Holly, shame on yourself! You're too good!
Congratulations to V8(aka Holly) for winning this month's challenge. The crowd has spoken and you have won 8) I will contact you shortly about arrangements.

                V8, PM a theme for Category 1
Thank you gents! A big thank you to all for listening & voting & a special shout-out to Adrian to re-invigorating the challenges - great work.

Will think through an appropriate challenge idea today and see what pops out.

If anyone's interested - my entry was originally captured via webcam/internal mic on my laptop and the original clip is here :

I tried to re-record it for the challenge, but couldn't capture the vibe I got during the 'recording' - so I ripped the audio, added a little delay, eq & compression.
                    Well done meneer!
Reveal who his challengers were, please!
Silly question, but do the challengers know who they are up against??

Not a silly question - a very good one in fact.

No one knows anything - they all blind haha. Unless someone says "ok mine is entered" or something, then they might know then, but not which track belongs to who.

                      The entrants were:

                      Holly - V8
                      Page - Briang
                      Walsch - Stoffeltoo
                      Knopfler - studmissile

And I'd just like to say thank you to those new comers who joined, I know its not the easiest thing - but you did yourself some good work there. With every entry you become a better player - I thoroughly enjoyed each and every track, and thought you guys did the theme justice
Wow... quality of the entries was/is awesome!!! Well done peeps...I've been trying to work on my composition skills... but it's taking forever to get to "beginner" level even.

                          As a relative beginner my approach is as follows;
                          Composition =
                          make up main theme/motif, A
make up appropriate harmony and rhythm
(or, these two steps can be changed around and assumes a little bit of music knowledge)
Structure the song, using the motif as follows, A A B A where B = change from main motif, A, by using completely new motif or e.g. alter timing, order, emphasis, of notes in main motif (there are other structures but this is a good one to use)
And there you go you have a composition - possibly a hit!
                          It's easy :-[ ha ha
                          - I have utmost admiration for guys that can do this for orchestral arrangements
Of course getting a decent recording is a whole different ball game.

Anyone wish to share their process?

Or unless they include their name in the ID3 tag of their MP3 file. I won't mention any names because it was Manfred Klose ?
