Brilliant
This is good stuff V8
Same old thinking , and it's not a critical list of best players. There is no way Hendrix is the best player ever nor is Clapton anywhere in any top 100 or top 1000
Seems to me they are going on influence rather than ability, then the top 4 make sense!
Derek Trucks is a great player and worthy of being on the list! (I still cant get my head around slide)
A bit harsh on the younger players as there are so many but as you say they seem to be drawing this list from Classic Rock and Blues.
Interesting for me is Nels Cline at 82, Guitarist for Wilco and many other rather strange musical collaborations
Good Stuff. I can remember them

Who would have thought that mixing RnB/Hip-Hop with shred guitar would work so well ?
- I had my guitar in for a full setup at JD's at Marshall music in the west rand.
Left it in for a week as they were busy. Was ready on the day that they specified and they did a great job.
Was my Peavey T-60, Fixed up some frets, came back as good as new and it's a 1979 model - Let me know Dom

What he said.Mike wrote: One other point that's worth noting. With an acoustic guitar you, the player, is not hearing the sound that the audience is, as you are behind it. Depending on the architecture of the guitar, this may be more or less significant. So in a perfect world try to hear the guitars you play in the hands of someone else (with a similar playing style to you) or else get up close and personal with a wall, a window or a mirror so as much as possible of the sound coming out of the guitar bounces back at you...
I have a top end Takamine and it sounds great unplugged and even better plugged in. A lot of the sound guys are quite impressed with how easy it is to set me up. The point is that some of the Taylor's, Martin's etc do sound better unplugged but not as lekker plugged in.- Welcome. I know a couple of guitarists with that surname......
- That is hugely brilliant. Enjoy!
- Didn't even know about it. The Problem with Midrand is that it's almost in Pretoria ?
Looks interesting will have to get my passport ready and have a go!
