Cons
Missus will be rather upset for drilling holes and hooks for your pleasure and not for hers' like her photoframes for example
Shouldn't be a problem - even in a shared space like a living room. Good looking guitars enhance a space and are conversation pieces for visitors. If she doesn't like the look of your guitars, start looking at PRS catalogues and mention the prices. My wife moans that I don't have any hung in the lounge - that I want to keep them all in my work/music room.
High risk of your prized possession being bumped, scratched and God forbid dislodged while hoovering
Err... no. Why you hoovering the walls? ? Mount a rubber pad on the wall behind the body so even if they are knocked against the wall while dusting, they are protected. Don't ever leave them plugged in.
High risk of your guitars being stolen due to obvious line of sight
Don't hang 'em in line of sight of the windows.
Get a regular scolding for hanging coats and gear on wall hangers and not in the closet
I agree with her. Don't hang coats on guitar hangers, they are for guitars (and leads).
Dust
The only real concern on your whole list. Then again, if a guitar is hanging long enough between plays to gather a significant amount of dust, you should sell it and buy something you will actually use.
Temperature extremes and obviously tuning and retuning issues
Guitars are comfy in the same range of temperatures as humans, so shouldn't be an issue. No obvious about it - not even my 12-string goes out of tune from being hung.
