Oh dammit someone was selling a Korg Pandora for a thousand a few weeks a ago that would have been perfect!
@studmissile, just my luck. I saw a digitech RP50 second hand for R400, called the guy next day and sold.

@wirt. Yeah I think I should've used the word casual guitarist instead of beginner. I am looking for a better amp but every time I find one it's either sold or way way out of my price range. I just have the money on hand so I wanted to get what I could when I could instead of spending it on something stupid.
      My Zim$ 20 000 000
If you're a beginner I'd also recommend that you steer clear of effects until you know whats cooking... overdrive on your amp is all you need during the beginning phase...
if you're intermediate then I think a multi FX would be fun to play around and experiment with. Usually you find a zoom G2 for under a grand second hand. They're not bad at all... (Contrary to popular belief, Zoom really stepped up their game in the last few years... Their previous stuff was baaaaaaad!)
If you're already comfortable and want to experiment with sounds then I'd also suggest a MFX pedal preferrably with an expression pedal for wah's, volume swells etc. The boss ME20 and Zoom G2 with expression pedal are cool for this. They usually turn up for 1500 or so
@Chocklit_Thunda, thanks, I found a G1XN for R1000 brand new. I keep seeing a lot of great reviews for Digitech and Zoom. Wanted to see which ones were preferred locally seeing as we have a limited range compared to UK or USA ?
If the guys on here think this is a good deal. I will sell you a Boss GT8 Floorboard just about brand new for R1300.00 bucks. (only to a member here).

Yep. Well worth it. Sadly the GT-8 (and the GT-PRO I'm selling) are not worth much any more (being two generations old - such is the nature of most technology), but they are still very capable effects units (and can do some things that I miss in my rack now filled with TC, Avid and Focusrite gear).
Take the GT8, its a great deal.
If not I have an old Zoom505 you can have for R150 if you want to experiment with some distortion, delay, auto-wah etc.
That GT8 is a solid piece of kit. A few years old now, but still a great unit. That would be my choice...
You will be a right plonker if you don't take the GT8 ?
                      a month later
☹ Dammit I was writing exams all this time and only logged on to see this now. I just got the Zoom G2.1nu
