Will let you know how it goes.
- In Noobie introEnough with the old "ballie" speak I am 55 young next b/day bud. Enjoy your stay here.
- Daniel I did my time way back when people played guitars and drummers were actual people. When I reflect upon my life the 3 years in the bush was a great time, not all the aspects, but generally a good time. You will learn a great deal in the army but the most important thing is you will learn about yourself. There few careers I can think of that give you a wider exposure to so much than the military. Do yourself a favor, if you are adamant that this is what you want to do, DONT waste it. Become all you can become, be the best at whatever you do. Try and get into officer's school.
You will have more opportunities than you can ever imagine, more toys than you could ever get tired of playing with. More buddies than you will ever need. The military is not about killing people it is about protecting. I leave you with this parting thought. Every morning before starting a patrol I used to tell my guys, " Remember guys forget that shit about dying for your country let the other mother die for his." referring to the enemy.
Have fun and good luck. - In Whatsup!Dont listen to Warren you have to practice more than that.
- I have a PRS SE EG and a PRS SE Custom semi hollow body. They are great guitars, very well made. Enjoy it bud.
- It looks ok but you cant tell from a picture. The speakers are great (if they are not blown obviously) i think those speakers have overload protection. I have a set of EV15 Pro and they are fantastic. The Mixer I don't know but if it's a bit weak you can always get a power amp and use that to drive the overall sound. R4k does not sound like a lot if the stuff is in good condition.
- Before you insure decide what you are insuring for. Is it to replace it with the exact same model or to buy something similar. Then check what you would do in the event that it was stolen and then work out the price for a replacement then get your quotes for the amount you want. Then check the terms of the insurance etc. Will they replace or pay you out. The biggest thing is to determine the value correctly, especially if you cannot get an exact replacement.
- There is a Crafter for sale on Facebook SA Music Store
https://www.facebook.com/groups/335454519918808/
Its a SAT-M.GD , serial #07064928 , made in Korea.
Quote "Its a really nice guit. Gold top on the body & the rest clear wood finnish.
Works well with a slide & the internal pickup makes it nice for someone who does a lot of rhythm work without needing to swap between an electric & acoustic guitar. Also it has barely a scratch on it."
Guy wants R3000.00 for it Modelled on a Taylor T5.
- I find when I get bogged down, try a bit of Reggae, something with a serious off beat it is good for the brain and the hands.
- The worst is out of the states. They slap fragile sticker's all over your case which can never come off. They break your locks if it is locked. The WILL cut the plastic wrap off. They do not give a damn about your stuff. American Airlines experience.
- Check this one.
- Bought a set of IV's bridge and neck for a project that I am working on. (had to go for the zebra). Will let you know what they sound like in a hollow body when I fit them.
I think you and I have the same family.ThomasN wrote: Yes I know its not cool to resurrect old threads... but I think its an awespme topic, and pretty pertinent to a musicians taste's at the end of the day. 8)
I remember hearing Ice T's interview, from his 90's album, "Body Count" which was essentially a Black male hip hop artist performing with a rock band. And he says in the interview on the album, that he pity's people that constrain themselves to listening to only one genre of music. I have to kind of agree with him actually.
I have probably about 400 vinyl's dating back from the 40's to about the begining of the 90's. In all three speeds ?
I grew up listening to everything from classical to Opera and rock, which definitely hasnt made me a better musician, but it does allow me to enjoy all sorts of music, so Im quite grateful for that.
From my parents I got:
Elvis, Trini Lopez, CCR, Boots Randolph, Nico Carstens, Satchmo, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Glen Miller, Frank Sinatra, Eta James, The Shadows, Bill Haley And The Comets, The Archies, Little Richard, Engelbert Humpidink (sp), Lance James, Eartha Kit, The Beatles, The Stone's, Ike & Tina, The Beach Boys, Roger Whittaker, Neil Diamond, Mr Pavarotti, Vivaldi, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Barry White, BB King, Cream, Johnny Cash, Santa Esmeralda, Miles Davis, Otis Redding, Ry Cooder, The Monkee's, Neil Young, Rodrigues... and the list goes on...
From my siblings I got:
Led Zeppelin, KISS, Bad Company, Golden Earing, Peter Frampton, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, The Who, Frank Zappa, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Boston, Pink Floyd, Rabbit, Nazareth, The Eagles, Supertramp, Thin Lizzy, Van Halen, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Leo Sayer, Jethro Tull, The Kinks etc etc etc...
I was fortunate enough to go through a few era's of music genre's as well, like, Reggae, Punk, Ska, Goth, 80's & 90's Hard Rock, Metal, Blues, Jazz, Hip Hop, House and as of late.... a combination of I think just about all of the above ? My favorite concerts are the one's that feature completely unrelated legends jamming together, like the Queen's Golden Jubilee. FSS it had Clapton, Ozzy, Brian Wilson, The Corrs, Paul McCartney, Joe Cocker, Brian May, Roger Taylor, Tony Bennett & Rod Stewart all on stage performing ?
If you have kids, I believe you should try hand down or at least expose them to almost as much music as possible, from as many genre's and backgrounds as possible. Its the foundations and building blocks to greater understanding. They will thank you later ? And perhaps they will grow up realizing that Bieber is an Oxygen thief :'( lol (kidding)- Peter great track bud.
- If you wear anything on your strumming wrist, wear a sweat band.
- That looks very very nice. If you need some work done speak to JD at JD Kustoms he is upstairs at Marshall Music in Woodmead Johannesburg.
- Ja sorry Alan I was not suggesting that it's a bargain in SA. But you have to admit if you are in the states getting a Fender for under 80 bucks is not a bad deal.

How's this for a beginner's bargain.
