Hi guys, I was wondering what you all feel was the best gear acquisition that you made during 2011. Mine was the Line6 M5 by far. Swiss army knife that replaced 3 pedals immediately.
What is the best piece of gear that you bought in 2011?
Marshall AFD100 amp. It's got the tone I've always loved and a character of its own that other Marshalls just can't quite replicate.
My Breedlove D35. Apparently she'll get even better over the years. Quite something to look forward to as she's damn near perfect already. ?
Also finally got a string-winder. Kicking myself for waiting 12years to get one.... Loshande the best 30 bucks i ever spent on gear.

That is a really tough one..
Best piece of gear: Blonde Tremolux
Best spent money: Mike Reilander pickups. Wound to my oddball specs and they sound great!

My Carvin NS-1 Nylon guitar. It's opened up a whole new world for me - especially with the Roland GR-55. I can now do guitar, bass and synth parts simultaneously or whatever is needed, just depending on what the other instruments are around me. It's pushed me to treat different strings as different voices too, which is pushing me forward as a player.
I have to give an honourable mention to my Eventide TimeFactor though - a very inspiring piece of kit. Incredibly capable (I've only run into one thing I can't do with it) and wonderful sound quality.

My Hamer Explorer..........
My Ibby RGA32 (thanks flatfourfan ? ). Getting some decent use out of it, I'm actually really impressed with the sound...
Straplocks! Really!
My Orange Tiny Terror. Opened up a new world, enjoying guitar like never before!
A seriously over-priced "Johnny Winter Signature" chrome slide.
I needed a pinky slide and it was the only one in the second store I tried. A chromed pipe section for over fifty bucks. I needed it. I paid. I certainly don't care about the price any more.
The take home message for me is that people should not mess around with slides on their ring fingers any more than you should learn to play with the pick held between your index and middle fingers.

Gee Whiz!
The only piece of gear I bought in a full calendar year was - Roland Cube 30x, but I suck at electric guitar and feel like selling it!

Definitely my RG2228, all that new range opens up so much and it makes it alot easier to communicate ideas to my band mates, also the longer scale and added string tension are totally where it's at for me :-[
Or... get good at playing electric guitar ? It's the same instrument. It's just potentially louder. Start off doing the same things you do on acoustic but on the electric. I do 95% of my finger-picking on an electric guitar. Set your amp up clean. Add a touch of reverb. You've got a very sweet, ringing sound right there.Squonk wrote: Gee Whiz!

EDIT: oops, seen you bin chewed out already by singe. oh well, that's ok. now i guess you get the pic good and proper ?.
my best purchase is either my tokai ls95s or my tokai sg88. hard to tell, as i haven't really had the time to play the sg88 for long enough to make a real comparison. have a feeling the sg may come out on top...
peace

My "American '57 Vintage Re-Issue Stratocaster" .......... and a TC Electronic "Hall Of Fame Reverb"
