Hi All!

I recently joined the forum and I LIKE it! So this is where I tell about myself?

I hail from Obzervatory in Cape Town and during the day I'm a student at the Observatory in the same suburb. At other times I may be various things depending on level of inebriation but I'm aiming to someday be a decent guitar player (This is probably only possible at the lower levels of inebriation).

I've been playing on and off for 9 years, got my current guitar in 2000 and LOVE it! Started trying to play Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, AC/DC type stuff then moved on to metal. A couple years later I realised I was prob closer to the mark in the beginning (I rediscoverd the blues). So thats where I'm now. Blues and Blues rock in the fashion of Albert Frost, Dan, Gary Moore, ZZ Top, Bonamassa and the couple hundred awesome youtube rockers...

My gear is the following:

15 year old Epiphone Les Paul Standard in cherry sunburst. It has a bolt-on neck, I've never seen another like it. I replaced the stock pickups with a Seymour Duncan JB and an Alnico II Pro. I feed it 11 gauge Ernies periodically. It needs a fret job.

I also own a Marshall VS15R (my first amp from 2000) one of the best 15W solid state amps I've heard, a Peavey Valveking 112 (good for harder rock) and I recently purchased AJA's Blackstar HT-5 Combo. The HT5 is f*****g fantastic! The Peavey is going up for sale in a week or so when I'm back home.

I've never had any effects but I'm thinking of a good boost pedal for the HT5 (OD1/TS9?)

That's about it.

Cheerio!

Welcome aboard Bud. ? May this (blues) affliction cause you to play more blues than heavy metal... (um old school and more blues than metal mself :?)

Welcome .... Enjoy ... Having just recently found the blues bug and having moved down to your fair city recently , we should get together for a jam some time
Welcome! Glad to hear you are enjoying the amp through the different levels of inebriation ?

Hey ezietsman. I'm also in Obz - in Ash street close to the stadium and the Parkway.

Also a big blues fan, struggling to get a bit better, and taking lessons from Rene (above). You playing in a band?
Welcome to the forum, have fun!
...Woke up this morning with a wine glass in my hand
Whose wine, what wine, where the hell did I dine?... (Peter Frampton "Do you feel like we do?')

Welcome to the show that never ends, and there is not one guitarist who doesn't like the Blues, it's impossible, it's compulsary! ?

                        If only that were true...
Welcome. The Blackstar is a very cool amp. Couldn't believe it is only 5 WATT!!
                            Welcome to the family........have fun.......
Hey Ziets, welcome to the funhouse...
Howzit and welcome to the forum.

I did part of my growing up in Obz as well......twas a lekker place it twas...... ? ?
                                  Welcome.

I'm unclear though as to WHY you have the blues. Is there a hell hound on your tail? Did your baby leave you? Is it a case of your mojo not working? Or perhaps you woke up this morning - I often think that's reason enough for having the blues.
