Prime circle are an odd one for me.
Some songs are so lifeless (She Alway's gets what she wants), especially from a guitar perspective. Then they do songs like Live this life, and Out of this place wich were rocking so hard. Sometimes I don't know what to think.
I hate nickelback. Canada should get sanctions for the kak music they produce. Then again, more junk comes out the USA than I've heard from an underground german rave club stuck in the 80's.
3 doors down are a simple band and the oke does what is required. Like Coldplay. It drives me nuts how simple that guys guitaring is yet it is so freaking effective.
I could actually go on all day about guitarists I can't stand who are yet doing a great job... I take it as a lesson though, that sometimes you don't need to shred, and sometimes you do. We had a saying with one band, "Do it for the song"

My band to play for the song not yourself. Idno, actually despite loving Rage against the machine, I do find tom morello a bit of a one trick pony. Actually many of my fav bands ares some of the worst guitaists. nothing technical at all, but I finf them so much more effective.
I think i tend to dislike the guitarist who whicks his hair back and plays a solo like he is slash, and then does a devil horns at you. Most often this hated guitaist uses a PRS or a LES Paul.
Prime Circle to me at least seem so bad they are not serious, they get very overblown and americanise themselves.

Sure nickelback dont rip solo's, but then again they are a pop rockish band, where solo's aren't the main thing.

i use to have a list of guitar players i could not stand at all, but i have made peace.

Nisckleback are and there soloing is what annoys me. And yes shredders as some know I dont like.
I could say I am at peace with all my disliked guitaists but they sit there in my angry part of the brain taunting me. plus we all have opinions on what we love 8)

Even the Band I played in was terrible, The guitarist only only knew 3 chords (G A and D)

The songs were all the same, just different variations of the 3 chords, and there was absolutely no soloing whatsoever!
In fact the vocalist was flat and he never had any monitors either.

Any backtrack artist who poses with a guitar for photo-ops and cd covers makes me nauseous. Cant name too many specific artists because I dont listen to their bands and mostly dont know who they are, but that Brad bloke from Linkin Park is one that comes to mind. Also tried listening to the G3 with an open mind but I just dont get it. Mind you, the other shredders and flashy soloists I dont get either. Aural masturbation I call it... Also tried to see why all the fuss over Jeff Buckley, and apart from Hallelujah I still dont get it. Love the blues, cant stand old players like Muddy Waters and Lightning Hopkins. Then again I like Billy Armstrong and the Edge, so it shows how much I know heh ?

I like all guitarist. Even more so the bad ones, we have something in common. I hate AIR Guitarists. There should be a rule that allow to slap a punk who try to play with Slash in Sweet Child 'O Mine. Gosh I hate it.

I struggle with tha whole g3 crew, Dragonforce, trivium. I can actually say I leave when they are played. Its like mike repelant
