Yes well... those prog rock bands often did go for pretentious names.

I read a cool interview with Sumlin. Talking about his stint with Muddy, Howlin' Wolf knocking his teeth out, how getting rid of his pick changed his playing. Cool stuff?
Neurosis - Given To The Rising

Yeah! One of the few growly vocalists I still enjoy.
                  "Mothership" Led Zeppelin double album!
Skabengas EP. The debut release by an upcoming local band. Especially love the guitar work on track 2! This is one to take a listen for all jazz/world/alternative music lovers:

Discovered them at the Bo last week. Went to watch one of the other bands on the line-up but the Skabengas were a brilliant surprise! They've got quite a ska element to their sound as well but the jazzy stuff comes through very strongly. All great players.
And there's something special about the SG, trumpet, upright bass combo ?
Geoff Muldaur - The Secret Handshake.

Some very tasty playing by guitarists Stephen Bruton and Amos Garret (I know a little about the latter and nothing about the former) and bass guitarist Bill Rich
Byzantine - ... And They Shall Take Up Serpents
The Wall - mulling over how it could work live on a non-Floyd or Waters budget, just in case there's a decision to do it (and permission/rights are forthcoming).
James Vincent mcmorrow. Not a lot of guitar but excellent song writing.
The Genuines - Goema. A blast from the South African past. It must be 25 years since I last listened to this.
