How do you include quotes of other posts in yours?

Maybe the next challenge could be called 'Black Friday Blues' ?

wern101 Just highlight the text you want to quote and a black box will pop up somewhere below the highlighting saying "quote" - click on that back and the text quoted will pop up in the reply window - something I'm loving about this new software!

My laziness would have to be lifted - a mashup would be cool though, would want your vocal stems and then I'd chop some riffage out of each track and then try and lego it together into something that made sense...

wern101 You gots the funk! (How do you do that?) Really dug the track, although the vocals were a bit soft and had to listen a few times to find out what you said

Thanks Wern! Since you asked...(and nobody is really interested :p) :

1 track of Bass : P-style Hofner bass w/Zoom B2 into interface. A evolution of the funky a$$ patch I've been working on for a while now. A combo of auto-wah, drive, compressor and octaver - it's syrup-y bass goodness - Kinda synth-y when you hold notes and percussive if playing staccato.

1 track of Guitar : Strat (pos 4, neck + bridge) into Wizards buffer/drive pedal (used a hint of gain) straight into interface. Did add a amp sim (Lepou 456) and a cab sim (Eden Bass cab 4x10)

1 track of Drums : Addictive drums.

A 'vocal' track using a really crappy old Carol mic I had lying around.

No quantizing or studio trickery on any tracks either ? - just played as heard. P.s. I'm no singer/rapper - but I couldn't find anyone else!

Jazzman105 Thanks Wern. I deliberately went for a 80's feel with some cheesy synth tones. The rhythm guitar on top of that was a bit much, so I left most of it out. I could've done a better job with the mix which may have resulted in that "fuller" sound.
I used a Rectifier amp sim on my GT100, played on my Ibanez AF105. Single coil guitars sounded a little thin and the Super 58 humbuckers on that hollow-body offered much more substance to my tone. I am sure I can do better with the tools I have, but am still a novice on the overdrive/distortion tone front. Clean tones have always been my thing

Thanks for the 'how to'. Great to learn from other muso's. Don't be too hard on yourself. I think the tone was great! And we are 'all' always seeking for that specific tone. I guess it's the guitarist's bane

wern101 I'd be happy to make the track available to Guitar Talk as per comp rules, but would be more inclined to redo it, with a proper backtrack! Maybe a mix up of all the entries? I think that a number of Genres/styles are represented. Open to any collaborations or ideas.

Of Course! I may just go for that Squier by Fender Acoustic. Been meaning to get another acoustic for a while. I know it's not a 'top of the line' but definitely a step-up from my current gear. + The kids will probably also benefit from it... if I ever let them near it.

Sidetrack: Yeah I have my nephews coming over for an "Xbox weekend" and I got EA Access so I could get Fifa 17 for free for them. Not sure if I'll let them play now, though ?
