I am currently looking in to buying an electric guitar. I came across a brand that I had not heard of before; Schecter.

Whilst I appreciate the fact that the various models differ in price i.e. 'entry level' to 'top of the range', I was wondering if any of the forum users have come across this brand. Do you currently own one, or have you owned one in the past? What is your opinion on this brand.?

Yeah, I very nearly bought one a while ago. I think it was the Banshee model and my reasons for not buying it had nothing to do with the quality of it. They have some great guitars and a lot of great players use them.
I played one in a store once and it really felt good.

Been thinking of getting one so I have a fixed bridge so I can easily experiment with tunings.

Methinks they're good guitars but by no stretch of the imagination am I an expert!
Are Schecters available in SA again?? Last I heard we didn't have a distributor for them locally.
I own an old american one. Completely different to the new ones haha. But I have played the new ones and they are well made useable guitars. ? I'm not sure if there's a local distributor but I've seen a lot of shops sell them.
@ Neil Nitro I came across a 2014 press release that said The New Black were the SA distributors. I've driven past their offices in Illiondale, Edenvale and will try get a web page address. Not sure if they're still around though.
I have a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser. Cost me 10k back in 2010 with a hardcase. Came with EMG 81/89 coil-tap humbuckers.

It's an absolutely stunning guitar in looks, tone and playability. It came perfectly set-up out the factory.

I also have a Schecter Extreme 5 string bass - got this second hand and its badly in need of a proper setup, but tonally it is very pleasing.

              I couldn't recommend Schecter enough.

Thanks for commenting guys. Much appreciated.

I'll put the Shecter down on my short list.
I had mine brought from the States just after Schecter stopped distribution in SA. Please tel me they have a local distributor. I want another Schecter! Recently had the Schecter AB'd against my Fender Mexican for fusion soloing. Shecter won...this time
Good guitars. Excellent built quality. I could not believe that the guitar I have is on their lower range. It certainly beats guitars in the same price range as far as I'm concerned.

I got a Stiletto Extreme Bass. It is also in need of a good set-up. It was last set up in 2005 I think. I would like to get rid of the active electronics and get a more vintage set-up. The guitar is beautiful though and has never let me down. My style of playing and taste has changed over the years but still I have great respect for Schecter.

I own a Schecter KM7. Simply put, it is an incredibly well constructed tone machine. I would recommend anyone to buy a Schecter, any day of the week. Seriously!
