My new Takamine 12 string...
Shaved a couple of millimetres off the saddle,
just a wee turn on the truss...
My own custom string gauge formula,
and standard tuning.
Ready for action ?

    very nice

if i may ask what is the model and what did you pay for it?

It's an EG535SSC (Made in Korea) and I swopped my EF340SC (Made in China)
      plus hard case for it.

A slight turn on the truss has all but eliminated the bow. Almost 3mm less on the saddle.
      I fitted custom light (0.11 - 0.52) coated strings plus (0.9 - 0.26 - uncoated) on the octaves.
A little stiff at standard tuning but the octaves don't sound good with the capo if you detune a semitone.
I believe the capo's spring aint strong enough.
I now have it at standard tuning and will just have to learn to press harder. ?

One of the things I noticed about my Nippon Gakki 12 string is that it has narrow low frets, which strangely enough makes it easier to fret - the thing is that you cannot press down too hard like with regular frets.
Very Nice looking guitar, I am thankfull however that it's not mine.... Setting up a 12 string.... aint nobody got time for that hahaha .

          Enjoy her!!

            12 days later
My gift voucher was for R400... The dude at Paul Bothners Sandown Crossing quoted me R350 for the bag and R350 for the cable, and then gave them both to me for the gift voucher...
What a lucky boy am I :woohoo:

Not standard tuning... I went down a whole step and then back up a semitone...
No buzzing, great action... Over critical ears must get used to octaves sounding a tad out in some places.
Have spent a while playing this guitar and have to get my act together to play at the Thursty Turtle next Sunday afternoon. 8)

                a) one of the reasons i quit playing 12-strings
                b) one of the reasons i love hearing a 12-string being played

in short, i can't play a 12-string as i am always looking for the note/s that's out. but that little extra jangly sound created by the slight dissonance between octave strings and their standard counterparts... heaven. i love it.

congrats on the acquisition, and enjoy to the max
