Hi all, just a stupid question..Do you get a pedal that restores clean sound back to a valve amp, after the amp,s sound is breaking up ? Thanks..
Clean sound pedal?
If you run a pedal that can cut volume (overdrive, compressor with volume knob, a volume pedal...) and you back off the volume, below unity, you can get the amp to clean up. Same thing happens when you roll back on your guitar volume.
?
?
No. The closest thing is a volume pedal. ?
I've used restoration software that can rebuild clipped peaks with digital overs, but it's only an approximation of limited use. Useless in fixing heavily distorted stuff and no use with the soft clipping that is amp overdrive.

I know this is unimaginable in this modern era, but turn down the volume...

^ This and perhaps a noise gate, depending on the breaking up you mean.DaFiz wrote: I know this is unimaginable in this modern era, but turn down the volume...

A gate wont exactly clean it up, but it can remove some of the unintentional ambient crackling, feedback etc...
Restricting the volume of the guitar via a pedal or the guitars own volume will help, as has been mentioned above, but the only other real way of cleaning up the sound is to keep the amps gain down, and increase the master volume to compensate to the level you need.
Its far easier to add Overdrive or distortion to a clean sound via a pedal, than it is to do it the other way round.

Fit your guitar with a treble bleed mod and then roll the volume down to about 3/4 or a half ? 8)
Another thing - if you're finding your amp is breaking up too soon on the volume dial, you can replace any 12AX7 (usually V1 or V2) with a 5751 valve, which brings the gain down and gives you more clean headroom.

Buy a Fender Twin Reverb. You'll never have to worry about that weird distortion stuff ever again!
