Anyone know of any good places around CT where one can look for 'junk' such as old music equipment, instruments etc?
Would be much appreciated.

That's where I buy my stuff... ? Tony's a great chap and his stuff is affordable. 8)V8 wrote: Only shop I know of that does 2nd hand music eq/instruments in the CPT area is http://www.guitarcentre.co.za/. Usually a step above junk - I pop in on occasion to see if they has anything interesting, my current bass and strat were sourced here + the owner is always happy to chat and have a laugh.
haha yep, cash crusaders etc. don't i know it.. kind of looking for some small nondescript little pawn/thrift shops. like i'm talking about good junk (think 70s/80s jap hifis, record players, hofners, old violins, etc). i know there are even places here in hermanus that get the occasional interesting thing in every now and again.DaFiz wrote: There are plenty pawn shops in CT where one can get Sanchez guitars and Dixon amplifiers. :-[
hmmm. have to say that these are definitely not the places that i'm talking about. i'm talking about junk shops as opposed to 'antique shops'.DaFiz wrote: There are too many dealers buying old junk and selling antique collectables. They offer you two cents for your prized beauty and advertise it in there shop window with astronomical mark up.
This is not a profitable mark-up but intense greed. I'd rather find it on gumtree, go and see for myself if the item is worth it and then make a reasonable offer. :-\
There used to be a shop on the corner of Long and Bloem streets. The ad in the window claimed... Purveyors of flotsam & jetsam... we buy junk and sell antiques. ?makepeace wrote: hmmm. have to say that these are definitely not the places that i'm talking about. i'm talking about junk shops as opposed to 'antique shops'.
One and the same, it used to be in Milnerton 'proper' (90s) - then it was a great place to trawl for genuine boot sale stuff!makepeace wrote: i've heard about milnerton market, is that the same thing? must definitely make a mission sometime soon.
