howdy. i need setups done on my tokais and my prs. normally i woulda gone to andy's but, well, you know. next best bet for me would be mando. but TOMS is literally a 3 minute walk away from the office. so for those of you who've had the relevant experience, what's the general consensus on setups and wotnot there?

there's no major work needed, just overall look-sees and action adjustments. tks

Cant go wrong at TOMS .... Grant is ace

nothing wrong with Mando either but the wait there can be like 2 weeks.
tks ICM, that confirms what i've heard. will be trundling down that way soon.

      cheers

If it's still Grant (who used to be at Smashing Guitars in the West Rand), then I can definitely vouch for his work. Top shelf stuff.

That said, my top guitar tech is the guy in his early 40s at Music Connection.
I have taken my guitars to Grant since he was at Smashing Guitars and I refuse to use anyone else!

          Grant is the best!
If it means anything, Grant is now the ONLY one I allow to work on my guitars, including the custom acoustics. Top notch tech, great guy and very pationate about getting it right!
Mark Sprawson who used to be at Andy's is now at Toms in Braamfontein, even works on weird lefthanded guitars.

i always liked the way mark handled my guitars - and they are plain ol' normal right guitars. sorry, i meant right-handed. unfortunately the sandton shop is just that much more convenient for me - as i said, just a hop, skip, and barely even a jump.

i phoned through and will be taking my goldtop early next week. when that's done, it'll be the sg's turn, then the prs. i'm lucky enough not to be in a rush, so i don't mind waiting the extra few days if necessary.

thanks for all the feedback y'all. it's much appreciated.

And he's really an ace player as well. He took my spot in a band that I left in a huff, and he also left in a huff, so whenever we meet we huff together.

Hey this is Great news. Thank you for sharing.

My SG has two chip marks i would like to get fixed and it also requires a full setup and some electronic kinks to have sorted out.

I will be taking it to Grant on Saturday
