Shipping from America or UK. . . what are the shipping costs?

I'm keen on buying second hand from some friends overseas but what are the shipping costs?
I know the import tax is supposed to be 20% of the worth of your package right?
Has anyone done it? What's your experiences been?

Yup. Size weight, who you ship it with, what type of shipping you choose, all are factors. Best to ask the sender to investigate from their side and get a quote for you. On this side, duties are at least VAT and then duties depending on exactly what it is. A lot of musical gear (but not all) is zero rated.

I'm thinking of shipping a PRS guitar. the cases are pretty robust and heavy, but the volume is definitely less than a normal guitar case.

I've paid close to $300 for courier shipping but it was worth it for items u can't get here

I have an aunt in the usa and my sister is in uk. I have recieved small items countless times but i was thinking about perhaps getting my aunt to post a line 6 hd500 here as a gift. So, does anyone have experience or advice for such a task? I would think insurance or tracking is the main issue right?
