Hey guys, I actually play guitar, but have to buy a bass amp for our bassist in our band, who is also a guitarist ? We play metal/hard rock, and allot of people say I have to buy a hartke? What do you guys think, I only have a R3000 budget, and the amp must be small enough for easy transport, as well as gigging, and must have great tone for metal type music. THANKS!
HELP what bass amp to buy ???
Take a look at hte ampeg BA range.
it's very well priced, sounds good, and have a xlr DI out.
a friend of mine bought the 15'' version. was somewhere between R3000 - R4000 i think.
they have smaller ones as well, 10'' and 12'' setups.

Hartke is great of course, but you could do a lot worse than an Ashdown 300 (minimum output he'll need). It's got everything you need to get a great sound, only negative is the onboard compressor is not great (I don't use compression anyway) but it's plenty loud, very transportable and you might find some floating on gumtree etc.
Yes indeed Jack Flash... 8) although y'll have difficulty in finding one for R3000 :-[

Unless you line out to a PA there's not enough power to be heard live... but I've heard that the Peavey bass amp series are good sound quality wise.LloKki wrote: I have a similar issue and saw this for R2300 new,,,,

Take your lead/electric guitar amp's wattage and multiply by 5 or 6 - that's what your bass amp's wattage needs to be ...
Agreed - no less than 300 watts unless every gig you play has perfect monitoring.
Also depends on how loud your drummer is ... my guess is "very" ... ?
