Oh man that is a shocker.... the world has lost a really great musician..
i'm gutted
RIP Gary.....
Former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore has been found dead in his luxury hotel room in the Costa del Sol in the early hours of this morning.

A postmortem is due to be carried out later in nearby Malaga.

The 58-year-old from Belfast is understood to have been on holiday at the time of his death.

well as the famous rock statement says..." No one gets out alive" death is sad and yes he will be missed but lets celebrate his life, he lived what we all dream of......a rock and roll lifestyle...... he did it all, hits a rocking career in a few famous bands, successful solo, he left behind a catalogue of cd's of his lifes work ........

and yeah dying in your sleep at a luxury hotel in costa del sol while on holiday is not a bad way to go.......... i can think of many worse ways to 'make the crossing"

i always admired his work and loved his tone...........and the "blues alive" cd he did is stil one of my all time favourite blues cd's

remember he's irish ? so go out and celebrate his death with a drink tonight maybe a few ...... and don't forget to pour a little whisky out for his spirit

You are so right Keira, cheers to that!!

I wasn't a huge fan, but this really saddens me. Maybe it was because I only got 15mins sleep. But still.
Ah man. This is swak :'(

One of my biggest influences when I was growing up and learning to play. The guy had killer tone and amazing chops and feel.

          R.I.P

            RIP ..

25 years an one month after phil. May they make great music together again
              And another star is dimmed.

However, as Warren Zevon reminded us, "Life will kill you". Whoever it is whose work you cherish, support them now, pay attention now. You might even want to bear live witness to the greatness if time and opportunity allow.

A lot of musicians live precarious existences. They don't have the safety nets that 9-5ers like me have. No medical aid, no retirement plans, they often find out they owe record companies lots of money. The Better 5/8 likes to watch the various biographies on DSTV. and it's amazing how many artists have a financial situation other than what you'd expect given their album sales or their movie takings.

Support them now! Let them feel the love and the recognition and the validation of what they do, and the income, now.

I always find the post-mortem career boost bothersome and sometimes distasteful, but that can also help to reduce the burden on the family, even if only by reducing the debt that the estate would have to service.

Interesting how many of the articles refer to him as the former Thin Lizzy guitarist...
                58...
                27 x 2 = nope. Just checking.
I'll put down a guiness or two in his honour.
He was a great player in my mind, loved his music. Crazy that he's dead. RIP Gary!
He was one of the greatest guitarists of our era. Big loss.

Here he is bringing his Les Paul to orgasm on "Parisienne Walkways"

This is actually irritating me quite a bit, it's like they're forgetting the incredible musician who wrote Empty Fields, Still Got The Blues and Parrisiene Walkways. I far prefered listening to him than listening to him on Thin Lizzy.

                      For The Memories:

He'll be jamming it up there with Jimi now I guess... :'(
                        R.I.P. Gary.

He is the other man that made me play guitar.

Here's a recent vid of him playing some slow blues in a pub for charity:

                          RIP Mr. Moore ☹
You made me a better guitar player and you made a big influence on most people including me. Thank you for leaving a legacy and your music for everyone behind. Even though i am only 14 you made me appreciate good music and not this rap, hip hop, dance etc. Thats all rubbish so i thank you once again for leaving your music for me and many other people.

                          RIP GARY MOORE ☹
This actually made me cry , the first full track i learnt was still got the blues , more recently over the hills . he was one of the greats . RIP
Aye, respect sir. And thank you.
