Noticed there is no wah reviews, so i added one.
What wah do you use, other pedals with it,guitars and amps.
What would you recommend?
Here is a few options(add some more if you know of any):
Vox V847
Dunlop Classic Crybaby
Morley wah
Rocktron Blackcat Moan
I'm going to try and test some of them out, as i'm am looking for a wah and cant decide what to choose.
P.s: The behringer hellbabe totally sucks, do put it on the list.

Didn't jimi hendrix play the Vox wah, i see dunlop has a signature jimi wah, how does that work?
NorioDS
I've got a Morley wah but I didn't know how to make good use of it for a long while and then it kinda broke and I haven't fixed it ?
But, ya, I gots a Morley. I think it'd be cool to have something like the Vai wah that turns off completely when it's not engaged. I find the little on off foot-switch on my wah is too hard to quickly tap when you're switching.

Vox (or the company that owned them) actually sold the patent to Dunlop at some point. I think it's expired now, so both are producing various versions.

Yeah I found the same problem with both the GT-6 and RK3 I think I'm going to try a clever way to model it

I used to have a Morley classic wah, but that added to much gain to my sound, But i had sold it, didn't like it.
I kind off like the VOX V847, would that be great for hard rock guitar sounds.
I read something about the crybaby not being true bypass?
ralley
Neither the Vox or the Crybaby are true bypass. I've got a crybaby and find that the highs are quite piercing and the lows quite muddy. Going to mod it one of these days.

Which wah did Kirk Hammet use on the earlier Metallica albums ? His wah use on all of his earlier albums solo's was awesome Btw.

Totally agree! Kirk's wah-metal-shreddingness and Joe's wah-ballads are what got me hooked on wah. Just beyoodiful stuff!

OK so i tested out the Rocktron black moan at music mate, didn't like it.
Going to test out the origanal cry baby and zakk wylde cry baby next time i go to marshall music.
Did you know that the VOX V847 only runs of batteries? that sucks, you'll have to mod it so that it can work with a power supply.

Not true for the new one. I don't have one of these but I have played on V847s plenty of times 'cos it seems like all my friends have them. Definitely does have a 2.1mm Boss-style DC Jack for use with a power supply.

Glad they changed it.
I asked MArshall music about it, and they told it is still battery powered!!! seems like they are a bit behind.
Do you like the VOX V847? what type of music do you and you friends play with the wah?

There is an American Guitarist by the name "DC SLATER" - www.myspace.com/dcslater
He gets some really good tone
If you listen to his track "Believe" , you can hear his wah sound...
www.dcslater.com/gear - cool guitars, relatively simple setup , but does the job really well
"Morley Bad Horsie 2 Contour Wah"
"Custom VOX847 Wah"
Dunno which one he's using on "Believe"

I have a (new) 847, and they can run from a power supply. In fact, I have never used a battery with it...

Basically i have to decide between the origanal cry baby and the vox V847.
What type of music do you play with it?

I've owned the Original Crybaby, Ibanez Weeping Demon, the old V847 and now the Crybaby Classic.
Crybaby Original - Very sharp/ bright in the toe-down position of the sweep. Overally a brighter wah tone, but very useful tones available nonetheless. Great for classic rock/ blues, quick funk rhythms and also does metal pretty well because of the extreme treble (cuts through alot of gain quite easily but can take your head off if your sound is very trebly). Can be a bit ice-picky though. Really tough casing and could survive just about any punishement better than whatever it hits (including the floor).
V847A (new one) - Much more aggresive in the midrange and less bright in the treble regions. More of a "vocal" wah sound. Very much a classic rock/ blues wah but depending on how you EQ your gain, can cut through with metal and hard rock too (remember it ups the mids). Although it's very vocal-like (a pronounced "wah" sound as opposed to the "waka" sound of the Crybaby, if that makes sense) it doesn't really suite funky rhythms as well IMO. Not a solidly built as the Dunlop, but looks nicer and comes with a carry bag.
Really, it's down to the kind of wah sound you're after. I'd suggest trying 'em out. I like the Crybaby Classic 'cos it combines the best traits of both IMO. BTW, as far as I recall Kirk Hammet uses the Classic as well as a ton of other top players. I'm not saying it's better 'cos it depends on what you're after, just that I prefer it to most wahs out there. Then again most of my mates swear by the VOX!
What sort of wah tone you after?
Manfred-Klose
I tried all of them weeping demon, morleys and yesterday i went to kaydubs home and tried out his origanal crybaby.
The crybaby has to much funk for me.
The only one i havent tried was the V847.
I'm looking for a smooth wah, one with settings.
Dont want something that over powers the gain(i already have enough of that)
IS the V847 harsh sounding or smooth?
Manfred-Klose
How much did you pay for your V847? if i may ask.
kayDUB
It's actually the Crybaby Classic (GCB95) i think...
It is pretty bright in the toe down position.
I've never really tried another wah, so can't really give a comparison.
Now I've just gotta learn how to use the thing properly! ?
Mr-M
V847A = Smooth.
The GCB-95 is the regular Crybaby. The GCB-95F (F for Fasel Inductor) is the Crybaby Classic. Also has true-bypass. The sticker on the front of the wah will say Crybaby Classic along with "GBC-95F CB Classic with Fasel" on the bottom plate.
The regular CB is much brighter than the CB Classic. If you find it very bright it's probably a normal CB 'cos the Classic is a lot tamer on the brightness compared to a normal CB. If you paid less than R1500 for it, it's probably not a Classic.
