  • Metallica - Hetfield has the solo's back...

I heard their first single on the radio yesterday, sounds good, reminds of the load/Relaod album.

I think it is going to be a huge success compared to ST.Anger.
St. Anger is the album they hope everyone forgets...

I always look forward to new releases from my favorite bands...

I just hope that this one isnt as bad as St. Anger!

    Like Load/Reload you say?
Yup, I can't wait either. I went through stages with St Anger. I kinda liked it in the store, then I really liked it at home for a few weeks (I was mostly in a depressed state of mind and the heavy music kinda helped) and then I REALLY disliked it and that's where I am now ?

Probably the one CD I really regret buying but, the thing is, there are bits and pieces of St Anger that are cool. They just shouldn't have stuffed up their writing process by letting the whole band at it. Their old method of, "Everyone does their own sh%t and doesn't f%ck with anyone else's", worked really well ?

      My 2c ?
I read an article in Total Guitar last month where James said that they had looked to Master of Puppets for inspiration for Death Magnetic, and they refer to it as the missing link between And Justice for All and Black Album.
I have my copy reserved, I am really looking forward to it ... but time will tell!

People (including myself) are so busy comparing it to other stuff. I think when it comes out we all listen to it for as it's own album Death Magnetic. I'm sure it'll be another very unique album.
You know, I think you're on to something there. They have brought out some pretty amazing stuff and I never get bored listening to them. The same can not be said about MOST metal bands out there.

I think my 2 favourite metal bands must be Metallica and Judas Priest. I think everyone else gets a bit too repetitive for my liking and don't experiment enough.

St. Anger wasn't the best album I've ever heard, but it has it's moments. On the international forums they get blasted for it and that they're not " Metallica" anymore. I think that bands need to evolve. Imho, if you heard one Slayer album, you've heard them all. I loved Load & Reload and still do, but they got a lot of negative press for it because it was too bluesy...Obviously the songs will get a bit slower and Hetfield's voice won't hit the high notes anymore. Kerry King was one of the first people to lash out at how Metallica is a sinking ship, but as far as singing goes, I'm yet to hear Tom Araya actually sing....

            No offence to Slayer though....
Gotta agree i thought St anger showed real promise specially the more active role played by Mr Trulljo's bass work think the best description of the album i've heard was "under produced"

I got it the day after it came out (I couldn't get to the store any quicker). It has surpassed all of my expectations. I love the sheer greatness and brutality of it all. By the way, I bought it at Best Buy for $10, and it's the limited edition digipak that's selling on eBay for upwards of $40. Go pick up a copy now! 8)
Awesome can't wait to get it. You guys are making me drule.
