Hey all! Just thought I'd introduce myself.

I currently live in Bathurst (just outside of Port Alfred), and I've only been playing for 7 months.
I have a red fender squier bullet strat and a 10W Ibanez amp.....not quite suited for the music I play and listen to, but I knew jack shoit when I bought it and was too excited to care at the time. I'm thinking of saving up for a Cort X2 for playing metal, and keeping my squier for the clean stuff.

MUSIC TASTE
From ages 4-8, I listened to CLASSIC FM.....by choice, and enjoyed it to no end.
From then it was R.E.M, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd and......JETHRO TULL (dad's favourites)
At age 13 I hit a bad stage of poor music taste, listening to pop rock such as Simple Plan until Iron Maiden rescued me at 14.

Iron Maiden still remains my favourite, followed by Amon Amarth, Coheed & Cambria, Children of Bodom, Lamb of God and Chevelle (we even played "one lonely visitor" at my fathers funeral last year)

I'm desprately looking for people to jam with, but my bro only bought his first bass a week ago, and my friend who is so enthusiastic about drums, will not save his money for a drumset, and would rather buy R300 shoes, when I get mine from pep at R40 (and they look much cooler).

Well, that's me!
    Welcome, Jethro! Enjoy the forum!
Welcome young Squire - love your Irish

Design & host, currently got an empty CV ☹ About to get a site up for an indigenous nursery. All the work I've done till now has just been modifying other sites...
              Welcome Jethro

Excellent! I'm a big Tull fan myself (amongst others).

Welcome to the world of music - you'll find a lot of that as you go. Doubly frustrating when someone is a natural musician too, but just won't commit. Usually if you do get them into a band and somehow they get the gear together, they are the first ones out the door when a new girlfriend comes along or something.

If you're serious about it, find some other folk who are just as into it as you are. While Bathurst is fairly small, you are near Port Alfred, Grahamstown and Rhodes University, so I would think there would be other musos around if you look hard. Keep on plugging away at it and play with anyone in any style - it all serves you in the long run.

Yeah, there are many people I know of already, they all have their own bands or live in PE. I'm currently spending 3-8 hours a day playing, because there is nothing else to do here and I'm tired of the whole "get-drunk-and-fall-down" routine that everybody enjoys so. I recon if I stay at home and play guitar all day while the others are having 'fun', I will easily surpass their "3 years" of "playing" and they will have no choice but to bow down to my greatness. That's the plan anyhooo....

..and a fine plan it is too. ?
                    Hi Jethro!

Welcome to the forum. You're gonna love it here.

I agree that your cunningly devised plan for supreme domination of the Eastern Cape music scene shows great promise!!! Stick to it.

Anyway, look forward to reading your posts in future.
