Maybe the time is better spent learning your chords and words in the first place ?
It's a matter of priorities. Consider the various skills you have to master...
  • Looking cool
  • Getting girl's phone numbers
  • Filthy looks at the sound guy
  • Blaming the drummer
  • Words, chords, scales, modes, note values (commonly referred to as "stuff")
  • Hammers and pulls to free up your right hand for drinking
Clearly something has to give. There aren't enough hours in the day.
Welcome aboard Joop, good to have yet another Blues man around?

Awesome gear collection here, please post a sound clip of the Junior!
      Welcome, enjoy the forum.

Bob I see we have some understanding of modern rock bands...

Pete, ja you're right, sometimes I just hit a blank. Especially if it's a Ronan Keating song. Maybe it's psychological? ???
Thanks for all the welcoming posts!

To answer some of the questions:

AJA - I have never had the chance to play a Tele, but I priced a '73 (to complete my collection) and at around R35 000 (google Andreas Barth's Guitar Experience) it is not an immediate priority, but I am definitely working on the savings and justification (wife and 3 kids to consider) to buy it!
Brent and X-Rated Bob - Yes, Brent, I am still on the rigs and working nightshift for 28 days (Currently at work). BTW are you going to Dan's next weekend?
Fritz Brand - As soon as I get some recording gear and my technical head together, I will post a clip.

Maybe you get distracted by deep philosophical questions. Like "who put the Onan in Ronan?"

Nice indeed! A one-piece ash body and the proper 50's style contouring. Well worth hanging on to.

                    Thanks, Alan
I plan to do just that. I know a lot of people buy these instruments so they can make a profit in future, but being a "player", I have no such qualms. If Yuriy built it, it was so that someone can play it not to store it in a box (although I am glad the guy before me did!).
As with amps, any guitar has to be broken in, and I can see this baby sounding even better in future.
