Let me know
FatBoy
Umm in which area sir?
MIKA-the-better-one
well we are spread across alberton and edenvale, edenvale being our primary base though
Mr-M
If you guys can get to Midrand, there's a killer acoustically treated practice space with a PA, mics and a decent drumkit. It's called the Midrand Band Room. Guys name is Terrence (very cool guy) - mushdenny(AT)gmail(DOT)com
BTW, you might wanna change your user profile to include your location so people in the right area will answer when you ask questions. ?

I shall, midrand is just so far... fuel plus rent 3 times a week. When did you get a noost n buff? How is it?
Mr-M
Yeah, but this practice space is actually worth it. If you can, do it.
I had the Boost 'n Buff when you saw my rig last - what, like 2 months ago? It's the MXR-sized nondescript white box, next to the VOX delay. I think it's an awesome boost pedal. Really clean and transparent. The higher the voltage you run it on the better it sounds (and makes the rest of your rig sound). I'm using it at 12V at the moment, but I should be getting some 18V adapter cables in soon (two 9V connector into one connector = 18V), so I'm looking forward to the tone from it and my Tube Zone @ 18V.

I am in no position to buy stuff but want to get a new booster to match this new amp,,,,,,,,,, but should i be patient and get that bbe supacharger, then sell off my carl martin. hahah they sent me the wrong replacement cables.
Mr-M
I'd say hang on for the BBE Supercharger because it's one of those thing you'll probably never sell because it always has a use. Pedals come and go, but good power supplies tend to stay on your board (at least it does on mine).
But if you really want a BnB, try doing a trade on an old model BnB at Music Connection (what I did). The new one has a seperate gain and volume control so you can use it as a treble booster at reasonable levels, but I only need the clean boost so I went for the older one.
Hey, it's your first day on GFSA and you're already an addict! :goodtimes:

I know its bad...... I am sad

Please tell me more about the BBE supacharger? They've been mentioned a few times now... Where can one get them and how much?
Would it be worthwhile to move from a DC Brick to one of these?
</hijack> ?
MIKA-the-better-one
hey as far as I know you gotta import it? MrM may know a better method, I would just order it in though infact may do so in the next month so if you wanna order too, we can split the relativly small shipping cost... pm me if you are interested
Its basicallly a a voodoo labs pedal power a little cheaper but really good, if you are having problems with you dc brick then you could consider it, it just has totally isolated outputs...

Can't get them in SA because there is no local BB agent AFAIK. Have to buy off eBay or an online store in the states. You can find them at anywhere between $99 and $150+
Looking at your pedals, I'd say you might get a bit less general hiss/ background noise/ gain-related noise because the BBE has individually isolated outputs which tends to make your whole rig slightly quieter. You don't really have any problem noise-maker pedals from what I can see, so you'll probably be just fine continuing to use the Dunlop IMO. Plus the Dunlop has the 18V outputs which you don't get on the BBE which can be useful to have for certain pedals.
I've got some serious noise generators (3 pedals with Germanium transistors), so the BBE is something I can't do without.

Thanks Mr M...
I need to make a correction though, my current power supply is actually a Power Bank, not a DC brick... sorry.
Mr-M
??? In that case change it ASAP!
Those Power Banks are known for being noisy and unreliable. You probably don't notice it too much right now, but if you changed to a BBE/ T-Rex Fuel Tank Junior/ Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2, you'd certainly notice the difference in noise floor with your pedals. I used to use a Carl Martin Big John as well as the Visual Sound One-Spot, which are boh fairly quiet and even then I definitely noticed a reduction in noise levels.
You can get the T-Rex or the Voodoo Labs locally from Marshall Music, whereas the BBE is only available online. The T-Rex and BBE will be cheaper than the VL, but bear in mind the T-Rex is a bit smaller with less outputs (though it'll still be more than enough for the pedal arrangement you have).
kayDUB
I thought that was coming.. ?
My board is noisy, but i've always chalked it up to EMI or something due to the output jacks wiring (not shielded) being too close to the power cables.
the t-rex has the no of outputs as i currently have so should be fine, but the supa charger looks like the best option (3 extra output - for GAS)!!
MIKA-the-better-one
get a new pedal power definatly, i used to run off wall warts and then upgradd to the big john (carl martin) and now i am considering that bbe...... just dont know if i can fund that at the moment...... amongst the 200000 other things i need to do

Does anyone know some good spaces in durban?

Hello Mr M
Do you perhaps have a contact number for the place in Midrand
And maybe a idea what the cost is
Thanks
Mr-M
I have included his email address for you to contact him. I'd rather not post his cell number on here without his permission. Contact him for the cost. You can also search Midrand Band Room on Facebook to find his Facebook group.

Will do
thanks Mr M
