Something for Guitarists and Bassists…
Laney Amplification has been a longtime supporter of metal4africa and has provided us with kick-ass backline since our first event in June, 2007. Now we are privileged to be able to take that partnership up one level.
Free!
Amp Crank is a free workshop inviting all guitarists and bassists (over 18, unfortunately) to meet together at Burn for an insight into the practical aspects of solid state versus valve technology - something which still remains a mystery to many!
Additionally, for those who have the courage, members of the public are invited to try out some of these top-of-the-line amplifiers, used by the likes of Bill Kelliher (Mastodon), Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth), Mattias ‘IA’ Eklundh (Freak Kitchen) and Toni Iommi (Black Sabbath), which will be onsite for the workshop.
Presenters will be Francois ‘Flapper’ Pretorius and Patrick Davidson of Mind Assault. Bassist to be announced.
DATE: Saturday 5 September, 2009
TIME: 14:00 till 16:30 (presentation at 14:00, Q&A + tryouts till 16:30)
VENUE: Burn Nightclub
ADDRESS: 2nd Floor Fidelity House, Walls Avenue, Greyville, Durban (just off Umgeni Drive)
COST: Free Entrance - cash bar trading throughout.
Also on 5 September will be the metal4africa “A Showcase of African Metal”, taking the night time slot at Burn. Make a day of it and come see some of SA’s most talked about bands alongside those from your own region.
