Hi Everyone

I'm hoping you guys can help me. I need some ideas for my next song to learn. I'm just heading above the beginner mark and can probable start working on some more difficult stuff.

I've just completed Nothing Else Matters (with solo) to give you an idea of what I can play.

So any suggestions? Something with a decent solo would be nice.

PS: Also working on AC/DC's You shook me all night long.

Thanks in advance.
    Hi Lacuna

What genre would you like to learn?

You could try Van Halens "aint talking about love"

A more clean sounding guitar song to learn is "Sultans of swing" by Dire Straits, Lovely rhythm with quite cute lead licks.

A song I learned from one of the Total Guitars is "Fallen Leaves" by Billy Talent. Quite Easy.
Well, I really dig my old rock. But a genre that I'd like to learn is blues.

But I do know, that learning more than one style is important, so it doesnt matter much. As long as its something I learn from ?

Thanks, I'll check out those songs today. But I'm guessing Van Halen is pretty insane?
Sigh, Sultans of swing, well played but still an amazing song!

The Van Halen "Aint talking about love" opening riff is a lekker one to get, It seems difficult but gettable. The solo is not too insane.
Strangely enough I've never been able to get past the intro to Nothing Else Matters, but I've got Ain't Talking 'Bout Love almost pegged...

I need to sit down and dedicate some time to that.

To break you into Hendrix "Hey Joe" has quite a good intro and chord sequence, if you play it Hendrix Style. Solo is also gettable.
Dunno if this will help, but what i did for 5 years was to learn covers...and in the proses got some bad picking habbits and hand placement. Maybe go check out directonal picking, and some stuff u can prac - make a schedule and prac that for an hour before u start a song, then learn it the rite way.Hendrix will def challenge u

                  The Dreaded Hendrix o_0

You know, that's not a bad idea.

I think I'm going to take that one. But yes, I do practice technique for about 30 - 60 minutes then start going into the covers ?

                  thanks for the advice.
? awesome ur lucky!!! I hav to sit minimun 2-3 hours a day just to try and undo the 5years of bad habbits....hendrix is a good choice -
Smoke a nice joint......(like Hendrix, Dylan, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, The Stones and many other greats have done)......and the ideas and creativity will just flow into your fingers......!!!! Hahahaha

Just kidding......... ? Good luck with your project! ?
+1 on Ain't talkin' 'bout love. Not that hard, the opening riff contains palm muting, string skipping and pinched harmonics. Nice new things to learn, or improve at. The solo is relatively easy to play, the only fast part is the alternate picking at the end, but that is just over 2s trings so it's not that hard. I'm still finding it hard to get nice pinch harmonics with lower gain settings.
I recently chose to work on Little Wing by Snowy White (from the album Little Wing)
I cheat a bit and choose real easy stuff to sing and play and this one fits well enough.
If you wish to complicate it a bit you can expand your "riff" playing techniques by trying some of the other renditions, as performed by... Jimmy Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton etc.
Same song - different styles... An interesting way to diversify. :-\

But persisting with a bad habit will lead you the wrong way.
