Morning all,
We've been chatting on the WhatsApp group about getting together for another jam session.
There was a general motion to refresh our repertoire slightly and I wanted to use this thread to collect some suggestions and do some planning.
So let's get some ideas flowing.

Generally we're looking for songs that are fun to play and of middling difficulty. They should be crunchy enough to not be boring but easy enough that us amateurs can pick them up in the few weeks of prep that we will have. Ideally they should be something that you know quite well so that someone will be able to lead the jam. They should also be guitar driven because we don't usually have a keys player, and should preferably use standard tuning.

Beyond that anything goes. Any genre, any tempo, etc... although if you want scream vocals you'll have to provide them yourself!

Since I cannot attend such events in SA, maybe someone can record a short impression 😀 I would love to hear you all jamming together 😀

    Like a Stone - Audioslave
QOTS - Go with the flow.
    Sabbath - Paranoid.

I'd also like to second Johan's Suggestions

    Hey guys

Let's get all song suggestions in by the end of Sep and then I'll organise the garage for late October early November. should give everyone a month to practice which is enough right? .... right?

I'll get the available garage dates to you asap.

Hmm. For some reason, the reply I posted on me phone didn't work. Blimmin' iPhones...

Anyhoooo... let's see what of it I can remember. Oh yes. Is there to be a central repository of tab/chord sheets of these tracks so we're all playing off the same, erm, song sheets as it were?

And may I venture to suggest the following two numbers:
The Kinks - You Really Got Me
Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild

    Just suggestions

    Thanks hey.

Oooh, one more suggestion I thunk of but instantly forgot.
    Mustang Sally.
Original version by Wilson Pickett? First cover in the early '90s? Commitments version?
    Who knows...

I know, being a soul/motown number it's more of a brass-infused track, but surely it'd be relatively easy (or not impossible, let's say) to exchange the brass for geets?

Gary Clark Jr. - Bright lights
Ted Nugent - Cat scratch fever

        Chord Sheets Here:

        Still need to get to:

Like a stone - my google fu seems to fail me here, I've linked to the tab and to a tut
Bright Lights - I might have to create this one by ear
Cat Scratch Fever - Can get the tab, but not the chord sheet, might have to create by ear
Mustang Sally - No problems here, just bedtime 🙂

Let me know if you see any mistakes

Aaaand Cat Scratch Fever is up which I think was the last one. I've been having fun starting to learn these, some nice riffage all round

We are GO for 6 Nov, I repeat .. we are GO.

I've just finished booking the venue. If you want to attend and aren't on the Whatsapp group, please send me a PM and I'll pass the details along, I don't wont to advertise the location on the public internet.

I've been slowly trying to get these songs into my fingers, fun stuff.
