Well done @guidothepimmp! I hear you are already ruminating over the challenge topic, may it be as successful as @Stoffeltoo's topic this month...11 entries! No pressure then...
And 2x ? to @RodneyVikens for a killer track, don't hassle about the votes - you've got another track for that EP you never knew you were going to release ?
Now onto the admin - there was a R100 raru prize floating around - @studmissile & @guidothepimmp - shall we sort this out this month?
Well done @guidothepimmp! You are the anthem master.... =)
Thanks fellers. Really appreciate it and all the votes. Thanks Rodney.
At V8, please feel free to chuck my voucher back into the hat for the next round. Or alernatively, if there is the appetite, we could donate the 100 bucks to buskaid or CHoC?
Cheers fellers. I will be along with an idea for the next round. If anyone has ideas floating about. Please feel free to leave them here
guidothepimmp No Ideas personally, but I'd definitely say something like Anthem insofar as genre is completely up to interpretation and anything goes - rather than having people shoehorn in genres they aren't familiar with (or don't have the gear for)
I'd like the idea of going back into the darkest recesses of songs people started but never finished (or wrote parts/riffs they wanted to work on further but never got around to doing)
Cool. So having run an idea past the whatsapp group and gauging responses. And also considering a brief but comical chat about the quality of tunes played in retail centers at the holiday/Christmas time of year...
The challenge quite simply is.. put together a tune in the line of what YOU would like to hear in a retail center whilst on holiday and perhaps while doing your last minute festivity shopping. You will get cred points if it is Holiday/Christmas related. Think Boney M repeats ad nauseum.. except your version.
Any genre goes. Any style goes. Knock yourself out.
Dropped B riffage is also good ?
guidothepimmp Dropped B riffage
Works for me lol

Not happening with my kit... also my brain would break... hahahaha.
warrenpridgeon also my brain would break
You don't need to learn the fretboard downtuned. I know the fretboard pretty well in standard tuning so all I do is use the Chord Names etc. as though I'm in standard but obviously the notes that come out are tuned down. I know Mark Halcomb from Periphery does this (I'm sure plenty of other people do too)
ScottyDogg i do the same. Didnt even realise it was an "issue" until i noticed youtuber folk giving that exact disclaimer before their videos. Apparently folks were getting agro because where alternate tunings were used, they "couldnt/shouldnt" callout the normal chord names per standard tuning.
Doesnt phase me. If i speak of an E chord.. i am more referring to the chord shape than the actual note or key anyways.
The place this becomes a problem is when playing with other instruments. I have seen a pianist get very upset because she had learnt the song in the key as written on the chord sheet and the guitars were all planning on playing with a capo. The capo position was noted on the chord sheet but she wasn't familiar with the guitar and didn't know what it meant.
Yeti capo? Whats that? Tinned beans?
I keed, i keed ?
