Dudes, wow. Just wow. I honestly did not know you could do that with just three chords. Absolutely superb entries all round. Next level stuff. My vote is in!
[VOTE] GuitarTalk 3 Chord Challenge
Thanks Meron, I'm trying to find any excuse to play slide these days.
Yeti: Good solid blues track and playing. Thoroughly enjoyed the witty one-liners, very clever. Uncomfortably true.
V8: Catchy riffage, very cool tone and crisp playing, worth exploring. Loved the mix but theoretically that's 6 chords? ?
Nice one guys.
studmissile theoretically that's 6 chords?
Guilty as charged.... ? But the min->maj modulation sounded too good to pass up...so let's call it a 2x3chord song. Though even worse....after recording and mixing I realized I only play a actual chord once...1m:01s coming out the little moshy bit. ?
But I'm sticking that one into the bank if I ever need a bubblegum song - can see that being fun to play with the right vocals.
studmissile i thought you done a great job with the slide playing. Well done.. did you use any alternate tuning? Or standard?
ok chaps, this is probably one of the toughest votes i've EVER had to make.
i have to say my favourite is, quite simply, 'mouse.' just love the simplicity, the vocals are a nice touch - my style abso-freakin-lootly.
'blues in em' is a great little track and the comments so far, well, there's not much i can add. same for 'why i failed.'
as for who i voted for; we'll have to wait n see. great contributions all round...
well done to all y'all!

guidothepimmp Thanks, standard tuning . Haven't got my head around alternate tuning yet.
I recall reading somewhere Duane Allman also used mostly standard tuning so I'm in good company. ?
V8 Great riffs, lots of possibilities.
Golllyyyy - 6 votes a pice and we are drawn - seldom happens...but I think it's a worthy result all round!
I thought @Yeti had a more listenable song with the clever lyrics, but @studmissile's use of slide to get every gram of chordy goodness outta his tune swung it for me (we are a guitar forum...sometimes...?)
What's next? I think I'm gonna try and open it up to suggerstions on that whatsapp group - failing that,@Yeti and @studmissile can debate (again) what we can try. It's worked so far!
Nicely played gentlemen.
V8 good idea regarding the whatsapp group.
My 5 cents: I was thinking along the lines of another showcase to see what people are up too or working on, band participation included?
studmissile good idea regarding the whatsapp group.
We'll see...yesterday there were a few ideas - shreddy challenge from @guidothepimmp, @Yeti was thinking a group collaboration. We'd agree to genre & tempo and let the creativity flow from there
I'm not against a group collaboration (or even two going head to head). One holdup would be someone mixing and kinda producing the efforts. Though, Instead of one person mixing - maybe we use a online daw like bandlab or soundnation - there'll be limitations - but it'll be a interesting experiment?
What I had in mind was more of collaboration than a challenge per se. I quite like the idea of each contributing some the components and then seeing how the different people put them together to make a song.
That said, a group challenge could be a very cool idea.
Had a thought for a future theme... folk songs.
So I'm thinking folk songs from any tradition redone in a different genre... metal, country, jazz, whatever.
Inspired by the Thin Lizzy and Metallica versions Whisky in the Jar.
Yeti Had a thought for a future theme... folk songs.
Happy to run - though I'll probably sit that one out, dunno any folk songs!
I did think about starting a bandlab collaboration for us to mess around on, but the riffs I thought of need some work, been struggling to get a decent feel this week - not enough practice!
Wellll, we ain't got many idea's for the next one...
Had a thought - how about leveraging learning(s) by 'Cover something in the style of you' - using the garage day's list as a start?
