Nicely played gents. Well done Jazzman105.
VOTE: Anything Goes Acoustic Challenge - Group 1
- Edited
Jazzman105 Christmas tunes are only relevant once a year, and this is that time... So I support Wern's proposal ?
It's unanimous then...dramatic sigh - ? Actually one of the easier debates we've had on the topic of a ...err... topic!
@Jazzman105 & @Yeti - Any interesting twists we throw in the mix or just go "Xmas" and see what happens?
The last Xmas challenge was (correctly recalled by @wern101 ??) Dec 2015 and was titled "Jingle Bell Rocks" - I now recall my megadeaf entry :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye.: You can checkout the original thread here. Sadly the entries are long gone, we were hosting them temporarily on the GFSA ftp instead of Soundcloud.
I don't have a specific idea, but here are some possibilities to possibly spice it up:
- Must be a 2-track collaboration
- Must feature a second instrument or voice
- Must have one key-change
Let's stir some internet controversy and say that it must include Dm7b5 ?
Congrats Jazzman105 ! It is a great sounding track.
I enjoyed putting some pressure on myself and to actually record something.
Thanks Elton and Studmissile. I realise that I didn't comment on Stumissile's entry....
Your clean playing, production quality and composition is always impressive. Security Transit Guard is no different. The vocals are also very well done! ??

I meant one of them, not all btw ?
Jazzman105 I meant one of them, not all btw
Heh, thought only one would apply - though I wouldn't want to exclude the cell only recording artists...multitracking on a cell phone is not exactly my idea of fun.
Happy to run multi voting groups though.
I see the City of Cape Town just did a Xmas challenge to play on the Grand Parade stage 3rd Dec. I spotted our former challenge admin Adrian's band had entered....what a killer tune. But I always enjoyed his style, check it out here
Allll righty, time to get another competition thread going...
Jazzman105 Must feature a second instrument or voice
I'm leaning towards this guideline to keep it interesting, but open ended? It'll allow for multitracking or cell phones - if we get enough of both, I'll divide into separate groups.
@Jazzman105 & @Yeti - thoughts?
V8 I'm leaning towards this guideline to keep it interesting, but open ended?
Are you shying away from the Christmas theme? I guess that theme will restrict some folks... so in the interest of promoting more entries, I'm loose on that. Otherwise I'm good with the "second instrument or voice" guideline. I'd add that it can be a third party singing or playing the 2nd instrument.

Nooo, not at all....hehe, it'll be Xmas with a twist to include a 2nd instrument/vocal. Was tempted by the m7b5 thing (that vid was great), but...it'll be unfair to those with jazzy chord voicings under their fingers already.
Jazzman105 . I'd add that it can be a third party singing or playing the 2nd instrument.
Good idea, like that
