"Jingle Bell Rocks"

*sorry for the stock image - trying to create an atmosphere ?

Let's keep it simple, I know how you all like to interpret themes as you will. Considering this is the christmas season, and I quite frankly am sick of the music that plays this year round, so hopefully you guys can fill my/our ears with something different.

Normal comp rules, entries can be around 1 - 2min.

And guys, guess what, Norio is secret Santa and is offering a R250 voucher at takealot.com for the winner, sjoe, even I'm going to attempt this one ?

Submit all entries around 21 December. Entries must be submitted via email
Send the following:

Hahaha, if I had a dollar for everytime I've heard Boney M around this time of year...sad reality is, it sells. *sigh*
PS: I'm sponsoring another R250 Takealot voucher for this one.

(Adrian, mind adding that to the top post so people don't miss it?)

Can't say I've had any decent idea's yet, so I went looking for inspiration.

        Heh...and I just got a humbucker'ed guitar...yezzzz
I don't usually like to say I am entering in fear that I can't make it, but screw it, I'm entering!
It's been a while so I'll give it a go as well
I worked for 8 hours on my track over the course of the weekend and didn't realize that I hadnt saved... reaper decided to crash as I went to render it. Ho ho ho merry Christmas to me...

So last night I started again from scratch and I managed to do the whole thing again but better. I now find myself in the position of having 2 weeks to polish the track, something I've never done before. Normally I hand it in minutes after I render it. I have a feeling that what I have chosen to do wont be the only version, looking forward to hearing everyones versions as well.

                Interesting!

I have sat 2 nights trying to get inspiration. This is a very open ended theme, you can basically do anything!
That's my problem. trying to steer away from snow and reindeer! Not easy!

                  Don't then? Embrace them!

                    I embraced them, hard!

                    Lol
I think I'll sit this one out.

I'm neck deep in writer's block.

                      Good luck ya'all!
Me too! I don't have writers block but a total lack of creativity. How the hell do you make bells with a guitar? (Edit: except V8 with the pimpocaster ?) Gaats ou's are we getting too old to believe in Christmas?

                          Arrggghh...you blew my cover ?

I'm also struggling getting past..."What's xmas-y, but not xmas?"

Hi. So how does this challenges work? I've never entered before but may want to try my hand at a fusionish xmas song if I can pull it off...
                              Hi Funkadelic

Best advice is to go back a few months in the comp threads and read the challenges and then listen to the entries. It's very chilled and you only really end up competing against yourself.

I'd love to hear some fusion xmas ?

I may have interpreted this the other way round, as in, what is xmas-y but doesn't sound xmas-y.... may the guitar forum gods judge me sparingly ?

The "rules" (really more like guidelines) are here : http://www.guitarforum.co.za/monthly-competition/challenge-rules/

Like G-man said, it's really a bit o' fun to get one's creative juices flowing - any entry is a good one!
Go for it Funks. Anything goes! Good Luck

                                    +1
I am struggling again this month with an original idea. But I sense something brewing in my head. Whether I will be able to pull it off, that is a different story.

I am more of the embrace the crappy christmas music and do a cover of it kind of person.

Will have to put in some effort over the weekend.
