wern101 That tends to happen until you start playing, then the ideas start flowing. I had ZERO idea what to do till I plugged in, tapped the delay and starting messing about.

Well last night.. plugged in my guitar, opened rakkarack... and started messing about with settings...
oh boy oh boy oh boy.... once I started playing with flanger and phaser setting.. Lets just say I think I have my sound.. Now to build a tune..
I was having sooo much fun just playing scales...

NorioDS I've maybe entered less than 10 challenges in the 10 years this community has existed...

? For Shame Mr @NorioDS . For shame.... ?

4 days later

How's it going people? I wanted to record over the weekend but left my laptop cable at the office. :face_with_rolling_eyes:

Anyone done yet?

wern101 Anyone done yet?

Done...haha, good one. Still starting!

I'll blame the good weather, was intending to get a jam going with my ngoni playing brethren, but didn't get there on a rather sunny day.

wern101 Excuses, excuses... ?
I'm as close to starting as I was when the challenge was posted. Eish

wern101 Anyone done yet?

It seems I'm going to be true to form and screech in at number 99... lol.
Band practice 2 nights a week and church worship team practice another night a week means a LOT of guitar playing... but not much time to work on stuff right now.

Well then I don't feel to bad. Lol. I really really hope I am going to have time this week. Might just have to get up at 4am one day and Get. It. Done!

Seperate note - has ANYONE on this forum played with an iRig through Garage Band? Meaning the Garage Band built in amps. Is it worth buying that little thingy?

    LOL wern101
Well you seem to be the furthest reading the comments..
Me... I just have a sound... Need a tune to go with it..
other wise its just going to be random notes and bends and well yeah..

Tuckstir I just have a sound... Need a tune to go with it.

Pretty much me too! Garage Band spacey synths, a bit of drummyness but ZERO tune! ZEROOO.

wern101 The iRig (or similar interface) opens Garageband up to guitarists. It's probably the cheapest way to get the most out GB. All my challenge submissions have been recorded using iRig and GB.

A-A-A-A-A-N-D, making it even more interesting...... I got my iRig off Aliexpress for around $5 four years ago - so it clearly is not the original. (At the time I genuinely did'nt know there is a difference.) Nevertheless, it performs perfectly every time.

BTW, a "normal" audio interface like Scarlett focusrite, Roland Rubix, etc also works fine with the right adapters.

Tough cookie, this one. I managed to spend an hour on it earlier, and I still got nothing...

        Jazzman105

Agreeded.. Played around.. think I'm taking a Metallica song... slowing it right down.. adding bends and slides randomly all overlaid with phase and flanger settings.. sound um interesting to say the least and totally unlike the original
        other wise i'm stumped..

Found this guy a while back - like his series of 'how to' videos.

So far I've got a bass sound, one a 1/2 progressions and not much else. Bass sound is legit though ?

warrenpridgeon sorry guys. I am not gonna make it in time for this one. Weekend was just too busy. ?
Good luck for those last minute entries!!

At 51bpm this track's claim to infamy is that it took less minutes from start to finish that it has bpm.

I would like to have done more with the bass - the patch I came up with is sooooo Vangelis ? , But I didn't have time to get it playing nicely, so tried to keep the space mooody with delays/reverbs doing the work rather. All guitar/bass fx off the zoom b2 and tracked in ableton. Did add a hint of rhythmic glitching on one rhythm guitar track using one of the ableton plugins.
