Jumped on Garageband on the weekend. Found a host of synthy sounds that I am going to use!
"Space Guitar" Challenge
wern101 That tends to happen until you start playing, then the ideas start flowing. I had ZERO idea what to do till I plugged in, tapped the delay and starting messing about.
Yeah and related but on the flip side: I thought I had a great idea for Postman Pat. Then I plugged in and tried to do it and it was shyte ? Plan less, noodle more. (At least with these challenges.)

hahaha.. for me, it when you practice it and it sounds amazing to you.... until you record it and play it back and cringe...
But I do enjoy these challenges.. they are a learning curve for me, with the last one it was a challenge for me to get the timing even close on correct..
Tuckstir when you practice it and it sounds amazing to you.... until you record it and play it back and cringe...
LOL! I have the same issue. Recording is an amazing tool for hearing your stuff with less "brain candy". It seems our brains like to hide our mistakes and bad tone. Bastard brains! ?

Totally agree. From the monthly challenges to the big guitar duel... it's been huge learning curves. I've maybe entered less than 10 challenges in the 10 years this community has existed but each entry has been valuable to me in one (big) way or another!

Well last night.. plugged in my guitar, opened rakkarack... and started messing about with settings...
oh boy oh boy oh boy.... once I started playing with flanger and phaser setting.. Lets just say I think I have my sound.. Now to build a tune..
I was having sooo much fun just playing scales...
How's it going people? I wanted to record over the weekend but left my laptop cable at the office. :face_with_rolling_eyes:
Anyone done yet?
wern101 Excuses, excuses... ?
I'm as close to starting as I was when the challenge was posted. Eish
Rough draft done, hopefully will have the time to polish it up.

It seems I'm going to be true to form and screech in at number 99... lol.
Band practice 2 nights a week and church worship team practice another night a week means a LOT of guitar playing... but not much time to work on stuff right now.
Well then I don't feel to bad. Lol. I really really hope I am going to have time this week. Might just have to get up at 4am one day and Get. It. Done!
Seperate note - has ANYONE on this forum played with an iRig through Garage Band? Meaning the Garage Band built in amps. Is it worth buying that little thingy?
- Edited
wern101 The iRig (or similar interface) opens Garageband up to guitarists. It's probably the cheapest way to get the most out GB. All my challenge submissions have been recorded using iRig and GB.
A-A-A-A-A-N-D, making it even more interesting...... I got my iRig off Aliexpress for around $5 four years ago - so it clearly is not the original. (At the time I genuinely did'nt know there is a difference.) Nevertheless, it performs perfectly every time.
BTW, a "normal" audio interface like Scarlett focusrite, Roland Rubix, etc also works fine with the right adapters.
