wern101 Dibs on Macgyver... ?

Allll yours ? Though that one fellow did compose a lot of the 80's TV theme's....

studmissile Will be good just to get back into the swing of recording?

V8 wasn't it ol' mike post and ol' pete carpenter's names i recall seeing, i dunno, about a bajillion times on the credits of 80s tv shows as theme composers?

magnum, macguyver, the a team, to name a few or me personal faves.

domhatch I was thinking of Mike Post (couldn't recall his name though) coz' of the A-Team theme - I honestly thought he also did MacGyver (he didn't - that was Randy Edelman)

But he did loads : LA Law (dun-dun!), Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blues,\ Chips, Magnum P.I were the ones I recognized.

Weeeelllll.... seems a bit more difficult than it sounds...i thought it would be 'chEasy' but... not so much.

V8 quite so. looking thru my itunes i discovered (to my horror!) at least three tv theme albums. thankfully, there was a lot of duplication ito content.

ever had one of those 'how the hell did that get on there?' moments? that was me... on itunes... with all o' them theme tune albums...

wern101 Actually rather intricate things these theme tunes? I'm picking one with a super strong melody, that I know really well - so the rest of it I can fake as long as the melody is recognizable.

domhatch Errrmm, more often than not it's how did that get onto my guitar stand. :sleuth_or_spy:

V8 ... so the rest of it I can fake as long as the melody is recognizable

And now this shall be my plan!! Ha! Thanks for the great idea!!

Ai shame. This died. Let's fix it.

With all the pointy vs paddle "guitar duel" stuff going on, we realise the rest of you aren't getting in on the fun.

So let's make this "TV Theme" challenge official.

? Entries Close: Sunday, 24 June, Midnight
?Rules: Let's keep it simple. 1 track. Your guitar / bass / ukelele / whatever guitar-like stringed instrument you choose. Any TV Theme at least 10 years old.
⁉How To Enter: Record your entry, sign up or log in to SoundCloud, post it there. Then grab the SoundCloud link and reply here with the link pasted in your reply.
?Prizes: The respect and adoration of your peers. Maybe a bit of their jealousy too.

Worried someone will steal your idea if you post it early? Then post your link on the final day. (Let's keep it simple for the competition coordinator, folks!)

Anyone can enter this competition. You just need a guitar and a phone. But any other recording equipment is fine too.

      And GO!

Yay! It's alive - I've still got mine in the back pocket - it was from a movie, but fortunately they did a series of it too, so I'll sneak in with a technicality.

V8 Highlander? Sorry if I'm right and that was meant to be a secret ?

        NorioDS No secrets here -

Who ya gonna callllll...how I'm gonna do it is the fun part ?

Nice choice! Love that theme song.

NorioDS T'was a easy one, thankfully there was a TV show! The reasoning is - the only vinyl I recall ever owned was the Ghostbusters OST - circa 84/85 iirc.

Jislaaik I hope I have time to do this. This new year has stolen all of my guitar time.

              6 days later

Mmmm... there's still time... Hopefully I can play with my new little mixing desk to do some recording stuff.

              7 days later

Shhhheeeeeeettttt, newsletter reminded me the deadline is this weekend. And I'm still working on the pointy/paddle challenge. My entry is gonna be rough as anything!

edit : perhaps not as rough as @domhatch puns... ?

No pressure... I've gotta record this AND my pointy vs paddle entry by Sunday evening ?

For this one I'm doing Postman Pat. Gonna try do it on bass with a bit of dirt and maybe some wah. If I can swing it, I'll go for a heavy metal style. But, first, gotta work out the fingering.

This is all I've got to go on for this tjoon:

              FA B- FA B- FA B-dd c#c# A B---
              GABG F---E--- GABG F---E---

              http://damihce726.blogspot.com/2016/05/postman-pat-tin-whistle-notes.html

Good luck, everyone! ? Enter whatever you manage. Don't worry about perfection. I'm pulling this one out of my ? in the next day or 2. You can too ?

OK! My "Creepy Postman Pat" entry is in ?

This was looots of fun. The 1-track limitation is tricky. Even the slightest rhythm track behind the instrument would've made it sound less empty, to my ears.

Recorded on my trust ol' Boss BR-600. Used my Satchurator for dirt coz none of the dirt on the BR-600 gave me what I was after. Tried my Morely wah but I wasn't feeling it. Maybe with more practice I can have more fun with that.

I down-tuned the E-string to get the low D at the end of the riff. Then tuned it back up to E (yes, on the fly) to get the second riff in. I love how creepy it sounds ? And it let me keep the riff in the VERY LOOOOW registers where it's a bit creepier ?

Anyway, looking forward to hearing YOUR entries! Bring it ?
