  • What string gauge do you use for E standard tuning

Hey guys and girls.

I was wondering what string gauges you use for E standard as well as on what guitar/s you use those, if you dont mind sharing ^^

I use 10 - 46 ernie ball on a Jackson Dinky pro (24 fret) 25.5" scale length
yep. on all my tokais, same. tuned to e-standard, ernie ball slinkies, les pauls and an sg.

i did at one point use a gold top with p-90s with flatwounds for jazz, quite a lekker combo really. and i also (at another point) played around with 11s tuned down one step (à la srv). made for extra chunk with the added flexibility of 10s

I currently (and for the next 6 years cos I bought a whole bunch off of ebay) use Elixir 10 - 46.
I have a PRS SE Custom 24, which is a 24 fret 25" scale guitar.

Sometimes I tune everything down one whole step because I like the way the guitar sounds tuned like that.
On the strat (25.5) : 10's (E standard), not fussed if it's 10-42 or 10-46. I used to use 11's (Eb) but I got over it.

For drop tunings, I'll use what I can find, last time I used a set of baritone strings (14-68) in B standard on a 25.5 Cort. Slightly floppy, but djenty.

          Generally 10 - 46 + 60 + 80 depending on the guitar ?

          RG1527 - 25.5" scale
          RG2228 - 27" scale
Currently Ernie Ball Super Slinky Custom Gauge 9 - 42 on all my electrics. Nice twang.
I've used D'Addario 9s for years and years.

But my recently bought (like as in under 2 years ago) Ibanez JS100 came with 10s.

My fingers complain if I haven't played in a while but they don't feel very different to the 9s.

That said, ALL my guitars need a setup. So maybe I should keep one with 9s and one with 10s and see what it sounds/feels like.

A lot of people bash on 9s but I've always thought mine sounded great.

Suppose it depends what you're playing. I noodle 90% of the time so chunk isn't important to me.
