G'day forumites.. or forumers...does it matter? Apart from being a guitar lover, I am guessing you have some other hobbies and interests? (don't say sport please) Please share some of your hobbies here, maybe post a pic of recent project you completed? I'm into lamp building from spare parts I find lying around. I aspire to build proper 'steampunk' lamps soon, but have been playing with a metal and wood mixture recently. Some pics attached of the latest project. Let us know what you think? Cheers!
We need to have a chat. I should get some time management tips from you.

I do not have enough time for music, work, missus, baby, life and whatever other crap needs to be done. So no other hobbies.
I have become quite attached to these little (and some not so little) buggers. After being stung by them scores of times and killing so many, I became quite interested in them and kept them as pets instead of doom-ing them. I let them go in safe areas these days though. This time of the year they come out to feed and I have a lot of folk catching them for me instead of killing them. This one is quite big (about 20cms nose to tip of tail and harmless. I kept him for over 5 years before releasing him. I have had some unpleasant stings from some types, including four on one butt cheek in one go. Moral of the story - Don't drink and sleep on the floor in front of the TV.

So I have a couple of other hobbies currently.

Hauling donkey around the racetrack on my Triumph Daytona 675. Currently only doing track days, but really want to try out some endurance racing this year:

Another hobby is fly fishing for yellowfish, carp, mudfish etc in the vaal river around the parys area.
Strictly catch and release...partially cos the vaal river makes fish taste bad. lol.

        Squash... yes... it's a sport ?
          I bodyboard when I can

LOL. Self-employment helps with that. ? But with a new baby in the house you have no time, I know. Actually, by the looks of things, you should get some tips from Warren... ?

              That's a nice specimen...
Really that many in Moz? We never see them in Nelspruit, but have spiders galore - which I also catch with my boys, keep for a bit and then release.

Nice! Been looking at getting a bike this year as well, but more for 'playing'....like a bobber, or tracer mod. 8)

              I'd do the same.

It's mostly music at the moment, trying to get a finger in every pie (or part) of making music to see what I really enjoy. Playing and re-furbing instruments seem to my favourite two musical pastimes. The hofner punk bass I threw together is a gift that keeps on giving! Though I have been known to bake up a storm - cakes, cookies, donuts, etc...made a dbl chocolate & roasted apricot cake this season that was outstanding :P Train a bit of MMA still and you'll find me occasionally cruising around on a skateboard or hiking up a mountain. And when I have to chill out, I read a lot - from sci-fi to philosophy. Boring compared to you guys, damn you keep busy when not music'ing!
my only other obsession is Triathlon, sorry that is sports related. Very much a mid life crisis thing and when I aint working or jamming I am swimming, cycling or running or all 3.
Currently I kill my spare time by gaming and reading.

As soon as my damn pups arrive I can start on my project guitar. Just bought another one (this time a Jackson dinky shape) so now I have 3 to work on.....

I'm heavily involved in a community theatre group in Centurion, which sometimes involves music and sound mixing for our shows.

I have a dream of getting good enough on guitar to play in a show sometime.
i'd love to get up on stage - even with a tiny part. haven't done it since i was at school; was scared sh*tless, but got through it okay enough.

                        in terms of other hobbies:
i fish for trout, bass and have also gone after yellow once - that was fun man! would love to hit bonefish on fly as well, i've heard it's the ultimate fish on fly in shallow saltwater.

i'm a (very) amateur photographer. i don't have a full-frame camera, i shoot on manual and get it right most of the time, but haven't ever sold a pic (and don't really intend to). i have had an artist ask me for some shots as reference for her paintings, which i consider a huge honour.

apart from that, i'm trying to keep body, mind and soul together. not just mine but, together with my good lady, two kids' as well. that's more than a hobby, as anyone with kids will tell you.

                        cheers

                          Music was my first love.
Guitars became a passion, although I never did excel in the heroics, nor manufacture them...*
Motorcycling also became a passion, road, dirt, track, mountain passes... again many hours of fun but no competition stuff.
Chess was my youth sport and playing pool, drinking beer my adult sport.
A bluddy good chess player and an excellent pool player might I add.
These days no more biking, but I still take my guitar on stage and sing the blues ?

                          * my heroes... Jimmy Page, Peter Green, Snowy White, David Gilmour, Robin Trower...
Never in my wildest dreams will I even come close * ?
If I find the time and the money, not always in this order, I'll go scuba diving. Managed rescue diver and some other qualifications but find it difficult to do all this and try and run my small won business as well. Times are tough these days.

Funny story—I'm also in Centurion and I have the same dream ?

                              When's the next show?
A few years ago I built myself an infrared camera that takes some unusual photos
Here's the camera along with some other Raspberry Pis:

                                And one of the photos:

This is sort of work related (I'm an architect) but I like to sketch- on paper and digitally:

I used to scuba dive quite a bit, still have all the kit. Just no dive buddy.

Instrument wise, as my playing time diminshed with mates moving away, band splitting etc, i turned my focus to the techincal bits, so i do setups etc, mainly on my own and friends guitars
And i also dabble in building bit.. not pro luthier quality, but good enough for me. I found i enjoy the woodworking element of it.

I dabble in verrrrry amateurish photography..

And, hacking away in the garden

We're auditioning next weekend for 'Allo 'Allo which goes on end of April. No guitar for this, it's just pure comedy. The end of year show (end November) is going to be full of music and dance and I hope to have some musicians on stage for this.
