Good day

I know there are other people doing this but maybe we can do this cant we maybe instead of throwing water over everyone.

Alan you sound like a really good guitar player can you maybe make us a song in any key rhythm track off about like 20 to 30 min long and then all of us put lead guitar in part off the song. Them put it on iTunes and we donate the money or something like that?

I hope you people are willing to do something like this?
Sounds like a good idea, however 30 minutes sounds a bit long in my opinion.

its 30 sec for 60 guys
A very noble idea Aja - but a 20-30min tune? That would be a seriously 70's jam :-\

Perhaps another idea could be take the hall of fame challenge entries, stick 'em up on audio jungle or make a GFSA album outta them and donate those proceeds. Some tunes could also be re-visited - there's one of Arno's (April 2014) I really enjoyed, & it's begging for a gratuitous leady solo ?

a cd is a good idea I will see maybe I can sponser the cost to put it on iTunes and we make like 10 songs each a different genre like acoustic, rock, blues ect
Perhaps even do a live recording of the GFSA concert Jayhell has been putting together and release that - that could be cool and something quite unique.

......noble idea, but a logistical nightmare...
Hmmm...an old leaky Fender or Marshall amp, a Les Paul or Strat and a bucket of icy water - would make for an electrifying lead break. ?

Its a good idea but i want to let the whole community feel apart of this thing not just the people that play the live show the whole south africa be apart off this
I was also thinking that a CD (or rather, a selection of tracks) would be a good idea. I'll look into some options over the weekend.

                    Thoughts (in no particular order):

                    1. Shouldn't we rather have donations to a more relevant (to us) charity? The ALS folk seem to have done well themselves with the ice bucket thing. A charity for the hearing impaired or one that funds musical instruments or tuition to underprivileged kids would be closer to my heart. Suggestions welcome.

                    2. Members (or their bands) would donate a track to be sold exclusively for the charity.

                    3. We would supply a banner for members to use on their own sites and social media to promote it. Promotion and bragging rights both served.

                    4. What is the best service to use for something like this? iTunes is all and well, but if there is a service where the bulk of the proceeds go to the charity, rather than the service themselves, that'd be much better.

                    5. We could set up a dedicated channel for this. New tracks could be added and promoted weekly or monthly and we would build up a back catalogue of tracks over time (the best way to make money). The channel would serve to not only raise money but reward participants with some extra promotion.

...that's off the top of my head, I'll look into things a bit further, but feel free to comment in the meantime.
I also think we should maybe make it all that are part of the cd name the charity that they want to help and then we divided it like that. many town is south Africa will be helped then.

we can use other stuff as well as iTunes but with iTunes if you go through tune core that you get all the money you make you just pay them once to put it on.

                      this is just my thoughts?
