howdy. etiennejvr has one of these up for sale in the classifieds and it's just about right in my price bracket. not being much of a bass fundi, i was wondering what you denizens of the deep and low thought of this particular instrument. i've read a few reviews, and the consensus seems to be that it's very versatile and sounds great. it sure is a looker and, while i didn't initially think i'd go for a 5-string, i think i could possibly make an exception in this case.

thoughts n feedback appreciated

I'm about and about at moment, so can't see the ad or price, but just wanted to share my experience...

My first ibanez was an SR400, and it was a brilliant bass for the money. I then upgraded to an SR705 which was my first 5 string, and it performed fantastically. The SR necks are thin so easy to play, and the electronics etc are usually of very decent quality, and I never had any issues with them. My only criticism of the SR range is that the string spacing can be a little too close, which can make certain styles difficult to play, but that's the trade-off for a fast and playable neck.

I'd say if the price is right go for it. It would be a great step into the depths of 5 string bass. If you can't play 5 string on one of these, you'll never play 5 string! ?

    G!
at the price including case you cant really go wrong imho.

Ibanez make great instruments, have no experience with this particular model but a quick google tells me the retail price would be much much much more than the asking price.

It's a good, modern bass with some honest wear and at a good price. Well worth it.

+1. It's a dealbreaker for me, but I'm an unashamed fat/wide neck fan and definitely in the minority - most guitarists are more comfortable on a slimmer necked bass.
I started on a 5 string and now 4 strings are nothing but a breeze ?
thanks youse guys. last bass i played was a 4-string cort, also had more-or-less a thin neck for a bass, so that doesn't worry me. and the price is great, imo. gonna get in touch and see what happens.

            tks again
