  • Noooo!!!!!! Guitar with no neck or body????

No...
Just no...
That is all...

Some might like it though...
looks like it is just a neck...me no like though and at 40k odd ...i'll stick to the ole school types ?
By the looks of this vid, it's impossible to play rhythm on... :?
The ergonomics of this are really tricky. I built a 2 string neck-through fretless bass (ok, it was a stick ? )

I love it because I made it myself, but it's really crap to play. Largely because the lack of body means there is nothing stop the bass from falling fretboard down, so you spend a lot of time fighting with your left hand to keep it twisted in the right position. I don't see how they will avoid the same problem. Notice how they're all sitting down in the video.

        ...and $3995?
It's actually an old design - first made in the mid '70s and hailed as a great work of art (the original is now housed in the Museum of Modern Art) with players like Andy Summers being seen with it.

The reissue has improved on the playability of the original - it's actually not much different from playing on a scalloped fretboard.

Why bother when you could just create all these sounds and effects on your computer ? ???
Seriously... what's the problem? Sure, it's different and not for everyone, but why the hate?

              =

              =

              I'd dig one... ?
Hahaha.....not hating it. Just too different for my liking. I Imagine guys with star trek suits hidden somewhere in a closet for their wife not to see wanting to play this.
I would definitely want to at least try this out. Doesn't look pretty to me, though.
I think it looks quite cool. Reminds me of a Sitar in some ways. And Organ pipes.
Dunno how comfortable it would be though.
Well, Rickenbacker started of this whole electric guitar thing with a Frying Pan, so I guess it was only a matter of time until somebody evolved it to become a Swizzle Stick ??? ?
Certainly not a traditional guitar. (Looks more like a lapsteel actually.) Not something I would want to dabble with though, and at that price.... ? Nee dankie.
Not for me but it would make an excellent travel guitar... Expensive travel guitar.... ?
i'm pretty sure it wouldn't be practical as an instrument in the long run. but i think it's kinda neat. in a museum of modern art way.

That's pretty much how I see it too.

Oh my. I want it. Iwantit Iwantit. All steel and LEDs, awesome!!! Do they make a 7 string ?

@peterlerous - brilliant stick bass, very cool. Where's the pickup? Btw the playability issue you mention looks solved, see the black stick at the top there...?

Thanks, I had fun making it. The pickup is a piezo disc under the bridge-

There's some more notes about it here.
