Hi guys

My wife managed to get a backstage pass to Jo'burg Day and managed to snap some pretty cool shots of the different performers. Here are a few guitar-related ones:

First, the ladies from BlackByrd all sport matching black Takamine G-Series guitars: a nifty visual gimmick (the ladies themselves are rather visually, uh, impactful), and they sound great too:

Then, a really lovely Select Strat with a blue flame-maple cap:

L'loyd Cele (nice guy!) with his "silent" guitar:

Jeremy Loops's guitar headstock (not sure what it was):

Jack Parow's bassist on a Jazz Bass:

Not sure which band this was, cool Strat though:

Matthew Mole on a Yamaha acoustic (the girls loved this guy):

Marco Gomes of Prime Circle on bass:

Dirk Bisschoff of Prime Circle, with a really lovely Gibson Les Paul (he has a few):

Glenn Hodgson of The Parlotones on a P-Bass:

Kahn Morbee of The Palotones on a Jazzmaster (thanks for the correction, Choklit):

Kahn Morbee of The Parlotones on an acoustic, I couldn't see what it is:

PS: great day out! Mark Beling was on stage behind the BlackByrds playing an awesome Tele, couldn't get good pics of him though. The other Hodgson brother from the Parlotones also favoured a really gorgeous deluxe 'burst Tele, will see if I have a pic of that...
Khan is "rocking" a Jazzmaster not a Jaguar ? that poor Jazzmaster :'(

Awesome photos by your wife, incredible quality.

The blue flame Select Strat is Kurt Slabbert...great guy, killer guitarist...also plays a Tokai ES155.

        Cheers, I've corrected it!

Just a note if you haven't seen these guys: he really does rock that thing. After all these years of doing those same songs, Kahn really puts a lot of energy into his performance!
          very nice pictures
but not really impressed by the gear, except jack sparrows bass
Good stuff. Great pics and gear. Hats off to the wife.

Hehe, Yeah I was just taking the mickey.... I've actually seen them live (*gasp!*) and while I'm not a fan, they do put on quite a show! But back when I saw them, he was using either a strat or a tele, while the guitarist was using the other.

Spoke to Kurt today, it's not a 'Select', it's a "Custom Shop".

Aftermarket bridge there? (callaham perhaps?) Dig that Gilmour-ish shortened trem arm
