This year's looking good. Deftones and now Skunk Ananasie. Man, I can't wait!
    YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
Awesome! Huge year for live SA bands.

Let's see, this year alone I've seen RHCP, Metallica, Chevelle, cancelled seeing Bon Jovi, and have already booked to see Jon Gomm, Deftones, and DMB twice. Good year indeed.
Oh ja. Forgot about Metallica (didn't go to that one), the Chili Peppers and Chevelle. Edit: Rodriguez was this year too - that was another cool one.
John Gomm's gonna be great too!
I reckon Skunk's gonna be the best of the lot for me. One of my favourite guitarists and bassists. Skin's crazy too!

I'm excited for The Hives! ? always wanted to see them! They're just awesome!

And then you get Skunk Anansie who just KILL it ? they are sooooooooo good!
Don't forget Rise Against and some other band was here for Ramfest, Also Kings of Chaos was here and Dave Mathews are coming. I'm broke of just buying tickets!
Also Xavier Rudd was here. A year I wished I lived in CPT ☹
Why is that? All of those artists played JHB legs as well, and Skunk Anansie will too.
If anything we should be bleak here in Cape Town as Deftones have yet to announce a show this side. ☹

Saw The Hives in Barcelona a few years ago - amazing, such energy, non-stop pogoing

And who else is old enough to have seen Skunk Anansie at the Standard Bank Arena - I touched Skin when she came back out for the encore with a Bafana Bafana top on and stage dived into the crowd

Saw him in JHB - very cool, nice and chilled

I was there! My first concert - I was 16...

Missed the opening act and the start of their set because Mary J Blige and K-Ci & JoJo were booked at Ellis Park on the same night so we were stuck in traffic on the way. Was still an epic concert, and getting struck in the face repeatedly by the dude in front's manky dreadlocks did nothing to diminish that.

I'm still debating whether I'm going to this one or not - didn't really like Wonderlustre so much and I haven't heard anything off the latest album...
On the other hand, it's still Skunk Anansie, and from what I hear (and what you've just said) the Hives put on a great show.
                        3 months later
                        So, who saw them?
I didn't really care for the other acts much (I think I could have got into Alt-J's music in a different venue though), but man, Skunk Anansie were awesome. One of my favourite performances from a big international act so far. I was not dissapointed. Also, a lot of the hipsters and jocks cleared out after Alt-J, so we had space to stand somewhere comfortable and hear and see well ?
Skin is a killer performer, saw her yonks ago - kicked ass...
skin was crazy at In The City. When she walked on the crowd, I struggled to believe she was 46. Can't say I really enjoyed the music though.

alt-J were the reason I went, and I thoroughly enjoyed their set. Definitely one of my favourite live acts I have seen.

Yip. She kicked ass this time too. Great at fronting a band. And that band, Mark, Cass and Ace are the business too. And with their playing style, hearing them live really adds a lot. With some other bands these days I get the feeling the main appeal of live shows is visual. These guys can seriously groove though.

It was cool when she fell - you heard her sort of stumble over the line as she lost her balance, and then.. boom. I like that she takes risks like that. The band gives me the feeling that they're on the edge a lot of the time. Good ol' fashioned rock 'n roll style. Haven't seen a performance like that at a big gig for a long time.

I found Alt-J boring but I think the atmosphere had a lot to do with that. If it was a club or small theatre or somewhere with grass to chill, I probably could've got into that stuff. But at this street party deal with people all over the place taking photos of themselves... nah.

The Hives were okay but the Ewan Mcgregor/Jim Carrey lovechild frontman guy irritated me. He spoke way too much. I find their songs boring too. I like one or two though. So I was cranky by the time Skunk came on. That dissapeared quickly though ?

Did you see her solo or with Skunk Anansie? And where?
I'm sorry.... You all spelt THE HIVES wrong!!!!! :? :? :?

The Hives were literally the best live act I've ever seen in my life!
