So, I would like to start taking lessons with someone who would be able to give me really well structured lessons.

I've contacted Richard Pryor but unfortunately he is out of my current price range and René Avenant is just a little too far out of my reach (Bergvliet is quite a distance from me).

Are there any recommendations for someone close to the Goodwood area that I could possibly contact?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ?

Also, I have been working through a DVD series called Gibsons Learn & Master Guitar with Steve Krenz.
It's been great thus far and I intend to carry on with the series but he obviously cannot give me any feedback.

Have any of you ever used this series or heard about it?

A good friend of mine and one of the best players I know lives in Goodwood. I've never taken lessons from him, but I know he does teach. I suspect his lessons are more practical than theory intensive (so if you're looking for the lowdown on the super advanced modes etc might not be the guy, but he can certainly help you improve as a player). His name is Greg Schoeman (ex The Sunshines, a great 90s indie pop band that charted a few times), and he has given me permission to post his phone number here on the forum (as opposed to in a PM). Sorry to wake up this thread again.
I am looking for a good guitar teacher who can teach/guide me in the styles of Rock and Metal. I live in Somerset West, but I'm willing to travel.
An alternative I have been considering is taking online lessons with Tom Hess. Has anyone here taken lessons with him, or know of people who have? Can you recommend his teaching?
If there is already a thread that answer my question, please send me the link.

I don't know about those lessons with Tom Hess... I think there are plenty of free resources on the net that will guide you more than he can. From what I've seen of him, I don't like his playing or teaching style, but that's just me.

No harm in having a look at www.justinguitar.com. It's not exactly metal, but the principles are the same.

If you want to pay for something, have a look at Andy James' stuff on Lick Library.

I have been on Justinguitar a few times before. There are some really cool things one can learn on his site. And it is free.
I am also very familiar with Andy James' stuff. Also very good. I am however looking for a teacher that will give me feedback on my technique and guide me, showing me what I should learn next, etc. I am well aware of all the free stuff out there, but I'm sort of looking for a map, if you know what I mean, or someone who can give me the map.
