Hello all forumites ?

I'm Dimitri and I'm a guitar addict.

I'm a complete beginner, who ashamedly has owned a guitar for more than 10 years now :-[
Ashamed only because I've only recently started learning to play. I'm stuck on learning to play Ode To Joy and Jingle Bells ?

My wife bought me a new guitar for Christmas, a big risk on her part I guess but since receiving it, I haven't missed a day of practice.

I'm hoping to start lessons pretty soon, still looking for a teacher close enough to where I am.

Anyway, see out there.
Cheers

    Greetings from another beginner ?

Hope you enjoy your stay. Incidentally, I grew up in Goodwood. Seeing your location made me all nostalgic and stuff..
      Welcome!
Lots of knowledge around here! You'll learn tons! ?
Thanks for the welcome guys ?

Don't know how you managed to make the move to Pretoria, I tried Johannesburg a few years back and after the first week there I was crying like a little baby ?

I believe so, been trawling around on the forum for the few past few weeks now.
There are certainly lots of experienced people around these parts.
There are many delights to be found here in GFSA. But there's a price!

That is you have to tell us a bit more about these mysterious guitars that you have. Yes... we know that they have strings and necks and tuners, but that's not nearly enough ?

            ? Hahahaha

Well, my very first guitar is an acoustic guitar bought by my dad quite a number of years ago when I was convinced that that was what I wanted. Suffice to say, at that moment in time, it wasn't what I wanted. Which from some of the posts I read could have had more to do with my guitar than with me as it was a really really cheap one.

The one my wife bought me is a Tanglewood, part of their Evolution range. I believe that it is a Dreadnought. Not entirely sure what the model is.
            It's a semi-acoustic or elctro-acoustic :-\

You mean it has a hole in the middle and a transducer built into the saddle?

              Tanglewoods are good bang-per-buck guitars.
                Welcome Dimitri Nutt!! :goodtimes:

Yes, that is correct. Not entirely sure what the transducer is but from what I can see on Fishman's site, it is a preamp. Not sure if it's the same thing.

Yeah, I heard this one guy play one these at Marshall Music in Constiaberg and I fell in love with it.
