Anyone know the latest cost of all the tolls from Joburg to Durban?
I mean as a total cost. Not per toll ?

You can bypass some of the tolls without adding too many Ks to the trip. Originally alternate routes had to be signposted and most still are. So, for example, you can turn onto the old highway (now the R103) and travel that between Warden and Villiers and cut out one toll. The road is single carriageway, and in OK but not great condition. Might still be speed traps on that. Van Reenen's can be bypassed by using Oliviershoek pass, but that does add non-trivial Ks to the trip, although it is a more scenic drive.stu wrote: Cool stuff, thanks
I check the AA website. Looks like Im in for R174 each way
You can get by some of those with some visible 50's and 100's.GaryMac wrote: Never mind the toll gates, its the speed traps you need to be REALLY scared off!!!!!!

I just checked on Google Maps - going down Oliviershoek adds just 16ksX-rated Bob wrote: Van Reenen's can be bypassed by using Oliviershoek pass, but that does add non-trivial Ks to the trip, although it is a more scenic drive.
