Sorry I didn't notice I was supposed to introduce myself before posting, anyway my name is Antonio and I now live in Italy, but grew up in SA ( Pinetown ) in the 70's
During the late 70's and early eighties I played in a band called Alcatraz and we played all over the country in various clubs for about 6 years.
Here is a photo of my guitars.

Hey. Welcome. Lovely collection. Particularly like the mid-70s SG Standard (my buddy has a special with mini-humbuckers from the same era - also has a "harmonica" bridge) and the top-of-the-line Roadstar. Another forum member also has one of those with a beautiful maple cap.

So do you still play live? What's the scene like in Italy?

Ah right. The natural colour LP is the '58 right? Damn. Was hoping you lived in SA so I might get a chance to play it one day ?

Welcome !! Nice bunch of guitars you have there !!!
Welcome - I saw Alcatraz at the Malibu, portsocall in December 1980, was that your band?
Thanks for the welcome, we did play at the Malibu in December 1980 glad to see someone remembers us.
The guitars are from top left: SG deluxe 1974, Hardtail strat 1972, Les Paul Standard 1958, Les Paul Standard 2002, Fender strat 1973, Jazz Bass 1999, The Ibanez Roadster is from 1983 I think, The resonator is an Ozark from 2002 and the 12 string is an EKO from 1973.
I don't really play that much more just the occasional jam with friends.
              Welcome Anthonio...

Is there a story behind the patch on the 72 strat?
Hello and welcome Antonio, all nice guitars ........ :applause:

Yeah. That name's ringing a bell for me as well. ISTR seeing a band by that name in a biggish capacity club in Jo'burg - would have been late '79 or early 1980. Two guitar band as I recall. Other guitarist was Mike Todd. Am I thinking about the right band here?

The band I saw had Mike Todd, and the vocalist was possibly Paul? Keogh?
That's right Mike Todd, Paul Keogh, Paul Burton, Derek Marsland and me. We played Club Chicago in late 79. If you have any photos I'd love to see them.
As far as the mark on the strat it's just wear.

No photos ☹ But I recall the club now. I was working for Music Maker magazine at the time.
Beaut guitars! My '72 Strat sends her regards!
Wow!!! What a collection... I wish. Welcome aboard man, :yup:
Welcome aboard. Beautiful collection you have. Which one is your favourite?

Now you're talking, I lived at Club Chicago during that time...great memories. ?

I hung out with the band almost all the time during that time, now I'm trying to remember you.
At the time my good friend Ian Smukler was the assistant manager of Club Chicago and Tony Sanderson was the manager, in fact if memory serves me correctly Tony was the Alcatraz band manager as well.
Elrido, my Portuguese buddy was the DJ, and my old bud Kosie Smith (ex world ranked light heavyweight boxer) was the bouncer.

I was the guy who brought the Pink Floyd "The Wall" album to Elrido.
We used to play the helicopter intro to the Wall a lot, I used to work the lighting system. ?
Then you guys started playing the Wall, I remember Mike on his Les Paul (great guitar player) doing the solo spot on perfect.
I remember you used to do, "Video killed the radio star"...Paul used to sing it through a funnel.
But, the best part of your show was ending with "Whole lotta love", who can forget that, Paul the drummer used to kick his entire drum kit to the ground at the end of the set...you guys were wild. 8)
Chicago was even open on a Saturday afternoon, and it was packed every Saturday afternoon.

I remember one or two of the band members lived in a flat in Hillbrow, we used to hang out there a lot.

Of course Club Chicago was the beginning of the "gang war" (the Portuguese guys from the South) that eventually ended up in murder in Illovo Sandton, where a bouncer was killed at a club in Illovo...I will not mention names for my own safety ? because some of those 'dudes' are still alive, a few fled the country before the trial, and a few went to jail. ?

What a great club that was, built in an old movie theatre, that together with 20th Century were the best two clubs this town has ever seen.
I remember from those days, Malie Kelly was the singer in the band that played 20th Century, along with Lolly...damn!, can't remember the bands name?
The Madison Brothers also gigged at Club Chicago, they were also big at the time.

                                Great memories. ?
I'm happy to hear you have good memories of our band, clubChicago was a great venue, I remember a crazy new year's night when people in the audience jumped on the stage and started singin and dancing with us. By the way it was me that used to play the solo on "another brick in the wall" .
My favourite guitar is still my 1958 les paul which is the same guitar that I used all those years ago in Club Chicago.
Welcome! Quite a tale you have! Awesome to have you aboard ?
I just love posts like these! ?
